I'm stuck trying to remove the console around the handbrake. This is to install the retrofit factory armrest in a 2005 Cooper.

I removed the screw in the rear cupholder, popped the fasteners around the base, and released the two tabs protruding under the front console.

I can get the base to "float", but something is still "holding it".

This is driving me a little nuts.

hey try pulling it really hard once you pulled the screw out of the cup holder. thats how i got mine off.
