Where???? Bonnet scoop insert

Hey All:

I can't seem to find anyone that sells just the screen insert for the intercooler scoop. I really don't want a black one or chrome like below. All I want is the screen insert. I have seen it in some complete kits, but never all alone. I just want to keep the BIG bugs out of it.

I did various searches for grill, grill inserts, etc and didn't seem to find the info.

Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps you are shopping in the wrong kind of store? http://www.tech-esq.com/MINI/how_to_...oop_grille.htm

That's certainly an option

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have bookmarked that page and will take a trip to Lowes tomorrow.

Looks like a good project for this weekend.

I did that mod - it was fairly quick and fairly simple and very inexpensive!

I did it last weekend. Took all of about 45 minutes. I used tinfoil to make the template. Only word of caution is to wear gloves, the cut edges of the screening can put hundreds of tiny holes in your hands.

This is what I did. Worked great, and I even painted it RED. Really stands out against the BRG. Even more interesting is the number of chips I've gotten in the paint. So I guess its blocking stuff

I made a 2nd one which I spray painted black. Looked good for a couple of weeks, then I started noticing all the chips in the paint, so I swapped the original aluminium one back in. I also didn't like the fact that you don't really see a black one unless you know it's there.
