Tech Help! Correct disconnection procedure of driving spot lights needed!

Hi there, not posted much on this forum but hopefully somebody will be able to help me!

I am about to fit the aerokit honeycomb grill to my MC! Currently I have driving spotlights installed, i wont be using them on the aero grill so what i wud like to know is there anything specific i shud do with the wires once i have cut the lamps off. Can i just tape them up and leave them concealed under the bonnet lining. I dont want to cause any electrical problems with my normal lights or anything!

Can anyone give me any sort of advice?!

Thanks!

Are you going to sell the fog lights?

I had the spot lamps dealer installed so not sure about the blue light, the lamps have gone slightly rusty so not really worth selling!
Im more worried about wot to do with the bear wires once ive cut them off the spot lamps! U dont know do you?

Locate the auxiliary fuse box I think it is beside the ABS unit under the bonnet and pull the fuse for the lights you could also pull the relay located behind the right side kick panel (BC1) if you want to be extra sure but pulling the fuse and taping up the cables will be safe enough

When I had my lights off (took me a while to re-rivet the mounting brackets on), I had the wires cut off so that there was no bare wire, coiled and just hanging where they came out of the bonnet lining. They are only hot if you hit the button inside the car, then turn on your high-beams.
For 100% safety, you could always pull the connector off the back of the button. Then they could never be hot, no chance of a short.

Yep thats the one
open the cover pull the fuse and relocate the fuse to one of the blank slots that way the fuse and cables are always there if you want to replace your lights or use the supply for some other mod

Standard procedure for almost any work is to disconnect the battery. All the manuals usually list this as the first step.

Also, you mentioned "cutting" off the lights, If you are removing the brackets the best way to do this is to just drill out the rivets. rather than destroy the brackets

By the way I pm'd you about the lights

You have to drill out the rivets to remove the mounting brackets, but the way mine are mounted, the quick connect and ring connector on the ends of the 2 wires are too big to go through the hollow mounting bolt. Hence, you have to cut off the connections to remove the lights even if you were to leave the mounting brackets on.

postage wouldnt be a problem. they cant weigh too much, the most expensive ive paid for overseas shipping was 20 dollars for a 1/18th scale MCS car that weighs probably as much as the lights!
