If anyone else plans to order it, get a grommet... I flipped through the instructions and a grommet is extra.... its for the engine compartment so that the tubing doesn't rub against the hole you drill... any home supply store should also have it.

As for the wiring, the cable in the picture that is coiled up, that plugs into the back of the toggle panel, for power.... once again, I'll have to disassemble the center console... I think this is my 10th time in the various things I've done in that region ... hmmm I wonder how this is going to play out with my AutoUp circuit....

Do you mind posting any special or weird tools that are needed? Or is it all in service tech lingo? Also, what size is the grommet? Im installing tomorrow.

In flipping through the installation notes earliar, doesn't look like anything unusual other than your basic tools... then again, if you don't have torx bits to remove the center pillars, then this would be your special tool.

You'll have be able to remove the toggle panel, in order to wire up the harness. The included instructions don't tell you how to remove the center stack, just refers to a TIS, but if you search NAM you can find how-to's. I'll have to see if I have any issues with the auto-up circuit... hmm... a thought, I don't think I have to remove the center stack if I can reach under and pull out the ends I need and fish it up the stack to behind the parcel shelf......

You need the grommet to seal up the hole you drill (3/4" if I remember) through the plastic area between the engine and the small area under the windshield vent, for where you pass the boost hose through (so it doesn't rub and cut on the hole you just drilled). Then again if you have an aftermarket CAI, you may not need to do the drilling.

That's a quick run through... I don't have the instructions in front of me... but since you're about <24hrs from getting yours... patience

Based on what's shown on the Stewart Warner site, they're either 2 1/16" (52mm) or 2 5/8" (66mm). In the pics, they look bigger than the 52mm size, but pictures can be deceiving.

I suppose one option is to buy the MINI setup and replace the Voltmeter with this Oil Pressure gauge. The power and illumination connections appear to be the same as for the Voltmeter. You would have to add the oil pressure sender and run a lead from the sender to the oil pressure gauge.

That looks nice!

Did you blip the throttle while the shutter was open? (The visual effect with the tach needle...)

It is a dealership database. You might be able to find copies on eBay as well.

I'm not aware of any dealer that sells the TIS data base. You'll have to search around for it.

The gauges in the air vents look good, but yesterday in here in Georgia it was 95 degrees with a heat index around 100. Air conditioning is more important to me than gauges...

I know who sells ther AC gauges, I share the same opinion, we need the air vents . But the gauges in the 1st post are in the dealers? Would work in my MINI?

Yes, they are a recent addition to the MINI accessories for sale in the US. I'm not sure if they're available in other countries.

Can someone point me in the direction to get the installation instructions for the kit that is sold as a Mini extra(the one that is next to the tach)?

Thanks

I'm not sure that this will work, but....

I got the pfd file from the dealer when I bought the kit... I just added it to my gallery, and seem to be able to open it. If the link I'm adding here doesn't work, go to my gallery & try to open it from there (the multi media file)....

Perfect! Thank you for the link this was exactly what I was looking for.

When it comes to removing the knee bolster, center dashboard cover, center console uprights, and switch pack is there anything I need to do special, are they held in place with clips or screws?

Thanks again for your help!
Rick

Rick,

There's a lot of threads you can probably find on each of the parts you're asking about. The knee bolster just pulls at the top & swings down & off. The info for all of the other pieces is best covered by Ian's Auto-up instructions.

http://www.gbmini.net/MINIcircuit/install.shtml

But this link might be broken now....

I think everything is also covered in the Bentley manual.

Thank you very much. I didn't know where to connect the boost. Was the only thing left to do.

WTF!

The wire harness is too big to fish throught the area the directions are telling me.

It always seems these Mini instructions leave just enough information out to make you crazy. :impatient

How did everyone else run the wire bundle?

With the way this going I can not wait to get under the hood.

Thanks
