Does anyone know a USA source where I might be able to buy the UK/Europe OEM taillights?

Reason? I REALLY hate the fact that MINIUSA went with solid red turn signals... and I just want my turn signals to be amber like they are supposed to be.

I can't imagine it's a difficult switch to do...

I read on some post not too long ago that there is actually an OEM taillight somewhere for '05 that has clear turn signals but ISNT totally clear. Rumor? True? does anyone know where I can get these? I won't go aftermarket on something like taillights cause I really prefer not to have to keep refilling my brake light fluid reservoirs but I much prefer clear turn signals with amber bulbs to amber signals with clear bulbs.

 

MikeyTheMINI also sells the 05 spec rear lights with the clear/white turn indicators as well. In their OEM state, they have yellow/orange bulbs in them and so they don't look totally clear (just like our US spec front parking lamps do). However, Mikey also sells the tail lamps with the stock orange bulbs swapped out for ones that will look silver/blue I believe. Here's the link to the lamps on his site:

Oh and BTW, I just got an e-mail from Mikey today letting me know that he is expecting the 05 tail lamps with clear turn indicators to come into stock in about 8 days.

 

If you do a search on www.mini2.com I believe that there are a few threads over there talking about both types of the 05-spec tail lamps (i.e. the ones with the orange turn indicators and the ones with the clear/white turn indicators) and they have photos in them as well. Remember that these are OEM tail lamps and not something made by the aftermarket. Therefore, they will be built to the BMW/MINI original equipment standards.

 

I have posted several times on these taillights do a search and you will find several threads on them and things i have posted. Yes there are 2 styles of '05 Euro taillights. Apparently the pre 01/05 model year 2005 MINIs had a amber turn signal instead of red. And after 01/05 they started making them with a clear lenses and a orange bulb. Currently according to Mikey (i have been in contact with him for several months) the latter are still not available thru the parts dept and he is not sure why. The amber ones are readily available.
