I have seen this before, but never for sale... It's actually not to expensive.... who knows how much the fitting would cost though.

I would personally never do it. First of all it would limit to whom you could sell the car killing its resale, and secondly, no matter what they tell me there is no way that thing can stand up to New England winters i.e. 3 feet of snow on the top!

I've seen that roof on a classic Mini (...seemed to work fine) but never on a MINI (...except in an advert). I believe it's made by the same company that makes the cabrio roof.

I'm not sure I'd put one on but it does look cool. Personally, it looks like it would provide as much open-airness as the sunroof does with less frame rigidity.

Cool look nonetheless.

I forget the name of that type of roof, but I believe it is an official option on MINI's in europe....in fact, I just returned from vacation in london and paris and was looking for that very roof to see what it really was like....I saw a Mini with one, but did not see a MINI with it.....I did see the 4 passenger Smart Car...looks cool but seems more like a souped up golf cart

The company is Webasto and they provide OEM sunroofs to manufacturers in England, such as Jaguar. They also made the original fabric sunroofs for the classic Minis, MGs, Rovers, etc. From what I hear, although I haven't seen them yet, they are making a sunroof replacement kit for the new MINI which replaces the glass sunroof. There is a place in LA that will install an electronic one on a non-sunroof MINI for about $850.

I contacted the company several months ago, and they (Schnitzer) informed me that this is incompatible with the factory sunroof. Yuck.

It is in no way available as a factory option.
