Interior/Exterior clear side light markers
Welcome to MCO, minipilot. I got my clear side markers from Rspeed, too. Now if only I could replace the amber and red reflectors near the wheels........

I want the chrome side markers, but I cant figure out how to get the old black ones out. Anyone know? I tired twisting the amber light to see if that would pop off allowing the black side marker to come out, but no dice. Any idea?

Open the bonnet (hood) reach inside the fender where the vent is and push the front of the vent out away from the body don't push it out too far because the back of the vent is attached to the car by a sleeve. Once the front is clear you can pull the whole unit forward away from the body.
The amber cover locks into the vent, don't try twisting it off. Once the vent is off the car you can see how the amber cover attaches and how to remove it.
Personally I like the amber lense with the chrome vents. The amber makes the chrome stand out more.

What happened to the Chrome side vents? They seem to be gone from the Rspeed and Moss sites. I read some dis-satisfied posts about the quality for the price, are they discontinued?

The chrome vents are still on Moss check it out at:
http://www.mossmini.com/cgi-bin/db2w...t?PlateID=5535
RSpeed only lists the chrome vents for the S. I guess most Cooper owners are replacing the black with the S - though I think it's kind of cheesy to do it. They do have the clear side markers if you want them. Moss doesn't have the clear lens.
It's true the chrome finish is not that great but I kept them anyway because I like the chrome look better than the OEM black plastic. I might have the black ones chromed if I can find a place to do it.
Installation instructions come with the chrome vents.

I may be wrong... but I believe that it is law that vehicles have amber signal lights. Just like red tail lights and brake lights. Manufacturers of after-market products change from the "norm" and offer the clear lenses, but they still have the amber or red bulbs. They look clear, but when on they emit the red or amber light, thus not breaking the law, but looking better.
I bought my MCS in Germany and it came with the chrome indicators with the clear lense. I guess I'm lucky.

You are probably right about the blinking light needing to be amber.
I like the amber lense better............ it's really just a matter of taste.

I talked to the folks a RSpeed today and they said that they weren't happy with the quality of the non-S chromed Mini OEM Chrome Side Vent Grills. The metal is rough, and it carries through the chroming process. They had one pair left, though.
hey i have the chrome side vents and i think they are wonderful the croe with my black car makes it lok very good. i think they also have very good quality. well thats jus my opinion.
