Interior/Exterior Door Pin Replacements
I purchased the Stainless Steel Door Pin Replacement set from Monster Mini, however, I am having difficulties removing the stock pins. I'm assuming they screw off in a counter clockwise direction. I fear if I apply anymore torque the pins will simply snap off -- has anyone tried to remove these? Thanks for the help!! msteuer@ladpw.org
runnor332000: welcome to MCO!
I followed a similar twist counter clockwise method for removing door pins on my Jetta. There was kind of an indexed spot that the pins fit in (again on a VW) so once you overcame the index then the pins came right off. However, unless someone else has done this on the MINI your best bet for a quick answer may be to call ABD/Monster MINI and ask them.

That's odd. I don't know how the replacement ones fit on, but the originals don't screw off. If you have your door panel off it's pretty clear. The metal arm connected to the plastic head you see on top of your door is just jammed up into the pin and glued. Not screwed on.
There's a great thread on this over on aMINI2 thread.
Here's the synopsis of what needs to be done as posted by MiNiGuY, our inside MINI poster:

Door case removal is necessary anyway due to the shape of the door pins. They are a Z shape and cannot be pulled out or unscrewed without this.
I'd be inclined to remove the pins/rods and just burn the old pins off of the rods.
When removing the rods from the door be VERY VERY careful. Look before you leap and feel for the point where the rod goes into the door mechanism, as the green clip that the rod leads into is EXTREMELY fragile and will break if you lever the rod too far.
As I say, familiarise yourself with how the rod leads into the door mech before you remove it, or you may suddenly find youself in a Krypton Factor type situation when trying to replace it!!
Also, for door case removal in general:-
Always hold the door case to the door at the point where the pin is (bridge your hand over the top) and pull the door case off from front to back, starting with a big tug on the portion of door case that sticks above the door at the front.
This way as the door case flies off (they usually do) you are stopping damage by preventing it from pulling on the pin as it does so.
Always take great care when lifting the door case over the door locking pin and dont knock it or lever it too far.
Bust that green clip and it will be tears!!
