Seat Adjustments

I am a new mini owner and I think I must be mini challenged. I can't seem to adjust the seats. There is a lever on the inside right drivers side that fixes the back part of the seat, however I can't get the dang thing to work. Am I doing something wrong? Please help if you can. cha424

If you pull up on the lever on the inside of the seat and lean back the seat should tilt back, lean forward it should follow you forward. Under the seat is a lever you pull up to slide the seat for and aft. To the left of the seat is the lever that raises and lowers the seat whether you pull it up or push it down. Hope this helps, and welcome!

Does the lever that is on the right side (on passenger) not work? You may have gotten the seat mechanism to get out of sync somehow. A few others have had this problem too and there was a thread on how to fix it. I don't have a link to the thread but maybe someone else can find it or you

I have tried pulling up on the mechanism, I have tried pushing down on it and nothing. I brought the car in and the technician was able to do it, so I know it isn't broken. I just can'tseem to get it to adjust. I even had someone else try and they couldn't do it either.

One of the levers controls a ratchet mechanism to raise or lower the back of the seat (the bottom part, not the back); you have to pump it. There's also a funky condition where if the seat gets stuck, you use the round thing on the side (which has "push" on it) to push the seat all the way forward, and then all the way back, and then the seat "resets" itself and acts normally. At least, i think that was the cure; it happened to me several years ago and someone here had the cure.

You may not be lifting or pushing down the lever HARD enough. At first I thought it was broken too, but when I pushed (pumped) the handle with more force, it moved fine. Also, if the seat is ratcheted all the way down/up it will only work in the opposite position.

Ok, let's first make sure which lever you're talking about. Are you referring to the lever on the inside of the side of the seat that reclines the seat, or the lever on the bottom that makes the seat go up/down?

If you're talking about the recline function, it is definitely something you're supposed to pull "up" on. Pushing down will not do anything. Maybe you're leaning on the back and can't lift it high enough to engage it.

I am speaking about the lever on the driver's seat in between the passenger and driver. It is on my right side and i have tried pushing down and pulling up and nothing. The lever on the bottom that raises and lowers is not my problem.

You should have to pull it up. It should be a little tough. Don't worry, you won't break it, and if you do, you're still under warrantee.

Pull the lever up, adjust the seat.

It doesn't engage immediately. If there's any question about it, pull the lever up until you reach the stop, then adjust the seat. If you pull the lever, reach the stop and the seat still won't move, something's broken.
