Hi. Silly question, I'm sure...Has anyone attempted to remove the airbag warning sticker off the glovebox on the '03 MCS? (I presume it's on all models.)

I don't want to attempt to peel it off without some assurance I won't leave a permanent mark on the little fella.

Thank you...

Bill Adams

Welcome to MCO, Bill Adams! Um...I just very carefully pulled the warning label off, and used the back of it to remove any sticky residue....worked perfectly!

HI, My sticker also peeled off clean... I know the automakers are required to put these great looking "designer" safety stickers on our cars BUT do they really think anyone is going to leave this ugly thing stuck to our beautiful MINI dash??? Maybe it would remain in place on more cars if they placed it IN the glove box. NOW has anyone been able to remove the ones on the sunvisors??? I'd love to get rid of them too. Thanks, Paul...

I took the airbag warning off the day I got the car home. Just be carefull and peel it off sloooooowly. I'm also wanting to remove the stickers from the sunvisors. It looks a little tricky because of the fabric. Anyone tried it yet?

Thanks,
retroom

I'm interested in doing this as well, but it seems that they were ironed on like t-shirt logos

From what I understand through other people's accounts, removal of the decal on the visors can be a risky proposition. Obviously we can't physically pull them off without solvents of some kind. It is possible to ruin the visor if done incorrectly, especially when trying to remove these decals from "fuzzier" visors. For example, the visor on my other car has a smooth leathery side, and a fuzzy felt/velour(sp?) side, and it seems that people have had more luck in removing the decals from the leathery side of the visor.

Anyway, removing the decal is possible as this link describes: http://www.bmw330ci.com/DIY_Visors.htm

One thing that the above link might not have mentioned however, is that sometimes, people end up with a ghost, or trace of the decal after removal, where the part that was previously covered has a slightly different shade as compared to the rest of the visor. Your mileage may vary.

If you don't want to risk it, check out this alternative to removing the decal:

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea...p;pagenumber=1

FYI, the guy who makes the decals can pretty much do whatever design you want.

They cannot be removed as they are glued onto fabric. If they had been glued to vinyl, as they are on the BMW 3 series link provided above, they could be easily removed.

Our only option is to cover them. Just make a nice pattern of it, then go to any local sign shop that makes stickers and have them color match some vinyl to your interior. Done this several times before on other cars. I'm actually going to the sign shop today to get them made! How funny!

I know there is a guy making these....but haven't heard much from him lately...and he only had flashy colors like red/blue/green/etc...no dark grey or something that would blend in...here's his email all the same:
