In Dash Gauges

I think this is an awesome looking mod. Not sure if I have the cajones to go for it just yet, though....

There was another post from someone who used a different brand of guages that completely blacked out when not on that looked unbelievable!

You are right though, I am not sure I would have the stones to get rid of those vents. the 100 degree weather w/ 100% humidity in the summer means I need every bit of A/C not to roast!

It is nice looking.....I just don't have the cajones to give up 1/2 my AC vents here in Texas! I wonder if sufficient air flow is redirected to the remaining vents to make this a non-issue. All I know is that you don't want to "mess with Texas" heat! Nixed the sunroof because of this, too.

Blacked out? I wonder if these gauge pods even light up.

By the way, your site says you have Denso HK22 plugs. Did you mean to say IK22? Nice pics btw.

Here's a link to my aero grill mod with pics of mine.....

Thanks for the spelling mistake you caught! just fixed that..... also thanks for the kudos... if it weren't raining and the car so dirty I would add new pics with the new stripes!

Anyway I will start searching for the thread and try and post it, the guy had guages that would only light up when on but were solid black when off.... soooooo cool!

You can test this....

The vents have individual controls. Go ahead and close them. You'll find the other vents blow harder. I'm not all that happy with the flow out of the dash vents, so I was thinking of doing this.

Just a thought....

I know it will blow harder but then directionality is lost by having additional vents to blow in your face.

Here is the thread for the DEFI guages that look awesome!

This guy removed the right vent and the left one next to steering wheel....

You're right. They are cool.

You should make a trip up here to NYC and we can install them together, eh?

Here are the different colors you can get:

You could replace ALL FOUR VENTS if you were rallying with a co-pilot and needed to see every possible level! Hahahaha. Handles up to 6 gauges!

I looked into the cost and they are expensive! plus you have to buy the controller as well. Not worth it to me for the cool factor. I am willing to do a lot of things for the cool factor but not if it runs me around $600-800 and then installation......

After reading this post, I drove off to lunch and noticed that, in my MINI anyway, the steering wheel would really obscure a view of the left vent/guage.

I'd love to see a mount for several guages in the driver's side a-pillar. You could really see/use those, imo.

Yeah, you're right...I was just thinking that. I wonder...if the a-pillar cover was in two parts where the top part was left free to interact w/ air bag release and the bottom was more stationary??? Just a random idea.
