you can use a small zip tie and cram it into the treads. works the same.

the tie is not strong enough to damage anything.

How about replacing the tow hook for a front mount camera mount? I bet the video from that perspective would be cool. Just find out the metric thread spec is and make one up.

Yup, those are already out. And I'll be GLAD to try it....if your willing to fund me!

And I used Telfon Tape today. The hook holds much better, but it'll still come off with just unscrewing it...oh well. The paint is also not thick enough...I need to re-do it.

You can also use a washer to keep it level.

Nice MINITOR, I never thought of that....I'm going to go run out there and go see if I can find one!

Thanks!

In about a month, you will be able to buy one that clamps on to any OEM tow hook from the NAM store. It won't work with the BMW/EBay ones as the parts are being machined to fit the MINI tow hook.

I'm giving away one to the winner of the May photo contest and plan to give away several more till the end of the year.

I think I'm going to take it off. Looks much cleaner with it off, and I think it's too "ricey" of a look. Plus, the Orange paint is showing bubbles from not coating it enough...and I really just don't want to deal with it. Besides, if I go to the track or autocross I'll put it back on just for fun! Plus, it's easier to tow off the track (faster to already have it on)...so I don't know.

^^ only reason it looks too "ricey" to you on your car is because everything
else is stock.

well, to answer one question. I just used a bigger washer and now mine screws right into a horizontal position. Painted mine red, and I think it looks cool. everyone's always amazed that it came like that from the factory

It does give a very interesting perspective. A lot of this video was shot by a camera attached to the front tow hook by Richard Linn with his Vacu Cam setup.
