I 'believe' that they are required to be horizontal. I know that every race car I've seen are this way. No?

You wouldn't happen to have the part number for it would you?

Also if any one is interested in plugging the hole in the front grill that is there for the tow hook when not in use the part number for the plug is

51 71 0 152 022

Well since SID is giving me props for the tow hook, I figured I better chime in for the royalty checks. Everyone that has a tow hook on their car owes me 10 bucks. Yes it's true I was the first to do it here in the Detroit area, but it is something we all are aware of. I think 80% of my car sketches always gets a tow hook. Car designers, what can you do?????

Thanks Ethereal Why not mount four like Alta?

1-Few places on this planet to run four 540s simultaneously

2-I aim my 1100s to fill in areas between low/high while the 540s goes out for the long shot.

3-I can run the 1100s during the day without offending

And yes...I will need a new sig...again

SCMCS, I believe it is called a towing hinge. part no 72150141166 for the MINI. I found different part numbers for BMW, so I would quess they are not interchangable, Tim

Some of the tow hooks are interchangable. The tow hook on my MCS is from a 740 BMW (at least thats what the tech that gave it to me said  )

From march '02 0n, the 740d and the 760 and some other models the number is 72157070643. I don't know if is interchangable with the MINI or not. Can't tell from the EPC, it does not list the size, Tim

I think with my car being Pure silver and the tow hook plain silver metal it would go well on my car.

I also met a mini guy a while back who had a welder add a part to his hook to make it look like a key. So he put it on the back of the car to make the car look like a wind up toy.

Back from the dead, I know....but I have a question. I screwed in my tow hook, and liked the look, but it screws in and snugs down at a weird angle. Kind of like this /

Anyone know how to overcome this? I was thinking about threadlocker...but I wanted to hear what you guys did first..

Back it out and just as it comes loose, note the position of the tow hook. Rotate it 180 and see if you can engage the threads. This should change the alignment when its snug, but there's a good possibility it'll be like this \

I beveled the hole out slightly with a large drill bit so the hook will just screw in that little bit more until it was parallel to the ground. Just be careful if you do this as the aluminum bumper is soft and you can end up going to far with the drill bit.

Otherwise they are in fact like / on every one I have seen unless modified.
