Door Bar Paint and Reusable Attachment Method

I have just completed a repaint project for my door bars, down tubes, and miscellaneous interior trim pieces. I reattached the door bars using a method that allows for easy disassembly and reassembly at any time. Here is a link to the complete illustrated project.

Nice writeup!! You might want to edit your post and include a picture from your article so people can see the before and after results without seeing the article.

Just curious how come you didn't put on a clearcoat? Was it to maintain the rougher feel? I know the article said the paint is pretty durable, just curious.

Nice job!

I used the same paint on my switch plates and kitchen cabinet door pulls in my house. Three years later and the paint is still in great condition!

Thanks! Looks like you've done it for me. Actually, the reason I did the repaint was because of large areas of peeling paint where my sweaty legs rested against the door bar and the down tube while auto-x'ing. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of the true "before".

I did not feel that a clearcoat was necessary to maintain the finish. I don't think the clear would add any additional protection. The finish is not really rough, just dimpled. It has a very nice quality to it that may be diminished by top coating with clear. You need to see it to appreciate it. It looks factory.
