Quick release steering wheel..?

hi my fellow mini owners, I've been doing some research on quick release steering wheels. Before I pull the trigger on the entire assembly, I'm wondering what setups you guys are running? And if you can post pictures of your setup. Thank you

Overall, this was a no brainier for my street legal but dedicated endurance racing MINI, however I wouldn't really recommend it for a daily driver.

Quick release steering wheel..?-eweq8v8h.jpg

I have an generic NRG quick release with a 330mm Sabelt wheel. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than 330mm, even then you lose some visibility of the gauges. For a daily I would go with a 350mm wheel.
For the boss, you want a BMW E46 slim boss, like this one:
Amazon Amazon
and for all the bosses I've seen, you need a thick washer on the steering spline to take out about 2mm of slop otherwise.

With a setup like this you will lose the horn, steering wheel controls (if you have any) and the airbag. To avoid throwing a code you will want to remove the battery and put a 13ohm resistor in place of the airbag before you reconnect the battery.

When you remove the airbag clock-spring assembly, you will lose the automatic turn signal cancelling. To fix this I designed and 3D printed a small part which cancels the turn signals (and also acts as the thick spline washer).

OMP, Works Bell, Luisi have a gen1-specific steering hub to which you can install a quick release system. Horn & turn should work. Don't forget the SRS resistors.
