finally got my hands on a pair of lexan windows
pretty decent price super fast shipping considering they came
from the other side of the pond
Will post after install with interior done
got a set of light weight door cards
from lohen
to go along with them
absolutely nothing on the street
I live in the middle between brainerd and road America
so I do a lot of autocross
RallyCross
etc
I just figured I'd let the more motorsports oriented guys take a glander
I stumbled across a couple posts
wondering if they could get them so I just figured I'd post it
yeah I tried to install them as clean as I could
I found a couple posts on Instagram
an a couple forms from overseas and most of those guys
just riveted the window to the door
witch I wasn't a big fan of
so what I did
it's pulled the stock window regulator all apart
and used the stock slides an rails
to install the windows
I drilled holes in the sliders where the window sit in and drilled another
set of holes on the rail and put a bolt through
and tighten it all down
that way the sliders don't move up an down on the rail.
then basically just installed the windows as if they were normal
glass windows
The struts they send you
are actually surprising function great
the window doesn't rattle at all it's actually pretty solid
I got a set of lohen lightweight door cards
that I'll be putting in next.
once I get it I'll put together I'll snap more photos and post
Wow those are fancy. We offer them for the R53 which mount in the regulator like the stock glass, but haven't made them for the R56. But if there was interest we would. https://www.waymotorworks.com/lightw...s-r50-r53.html
Interesting. I wonder if I could make a set that would slip into an open window, while keeping the window in the door, remove the lexan window when not needed and back to normal window..
Oh, I have a 1m x 1m CNC router (and eventually will be able to swap out the router for a 40W CO2 laser, openbuilds if anyone is interested), I have already machined 1/2" thick lexan plates for dust shoe..

I mean I'm sure you could if you're really tried
it kind of would defeat the purpose
but I'm sure it could be done

I don't think it defeats the purpose. I would rather have a window explode inside the door if it is going to and have the lexan insert protect me. I remember taking my AMG C63 to the track, and had to drive with the windows up, and while Summit point does a good job of keeping there track clean, stones inevitably get thrown at your car. Sadly you cannot easily replace the front windscreen.

i know this is an old post, but wondering if you also sell the rear and the rear side replacement windows in polycarbonate too Wade.
