Destroyed Nuts for the Door Panel torx screw

I've managed to destroy a couple of those white plastic nuts on the metal door frame by overtightening the torx screws that hold the door panel onto the frame. Do you know of anyway to repair or replace them? Are they something I can purchase somewhere?

Thanks!

You might be able to order some from the dealership as replacements.

Or you can take one to Kilgos in the Sand Island area and try to find a match or substitute.

The Torx head screw is obviously special, but the nut should be a typical nylon metric size.

Try McMaster-Carr

http://www.mcmaster.com/

They have just about everything, no minimum order and ship fast.

Thanks, minihune. I actually don't live in Hawaii anymore. I moved to the mainland. Sorry, I forgot to update my online profile.

I am keeping the parts department as an option, but I'm afraid that they do not sell the nuts (or actually, I think they are called screw grommets) separately. I don't want to buy the entire door frame...

After some research, it seems there are speciality stores that carry these items (hopefully MINI has used generic grommets), but I'm not quite sure what do get. Actually, I don't know anything about these "grommets". I wonder how I can pull the old one out of the door frame.

Does anyone have any sort of info on these parts? Anything is appreciated!! Please help!

Thanks, JoeD. I'm guess they are pretty standard. I just have to figure out what the measurements are.

I'm totally unfamiliar with these nuts. Is there anyone out there who knows the measurements of these nuts? I can't even get them off the frame, so I can't measure it. Or if you know how to get them off, please tell me how.

Thanks!

I just stopped by at MINI of Mountain View, and ordered the parts. Thank god they sell them. It was $0.70 per nut. The only remaining problem is how to get the old one out of the metal frame. I wonder if I can just yank it out.

I got my nuts! Screw with care, when working with your door panels, or you'll lose your nuts! It was $0.70 per nut at a Mini dealership.
