Flash2Pass Garage Door Opener

FYI for anyone interested, here's a link to Mini2 regarding what I consider to be a neat garage door opener remote for the MINI.

FWIW, it works for me, and it's cool

I installed Flash2pass. Pretty cool. Works as advertised.

Couple caveats:

1) the first spot I mounted the box under the bonnet didn't work when the bonnet was closed. Tried a second spot that was less blocked by metal, which works reliably now.

2) twice I've had to re-clamp the scotch-loks. But that would be installer error.

just recieved a used toggle panel from a fellow NAM member and I decided i'm going to use the ASC position to hook up the garage door opener since I don't have the option. The F2P is nice, but as i remember it was quite expensive and I don't like the idea of the remote just hanging around outside. Anyways i figure i should make good use of the extra toggles.

Interestingly enough, you don't use your own remote. Flash2pass comes with a replacement for the button on your garage door wall. Then you attach their box under your bonnet. Their box under your bonnet communicates with their box on the wall of the garage.

I suppose if you really wanted, you could splice the wires and run the box somewhere else, but I would think the box is fairly immune to weather.

And yes, it's a bit pricey ($100), but for me who's really into gadgets, it was cheap.
