DYI - Installed Itronics ITB-100HD Dash Cam
Hey everyone,
As is customary for all my cars, I just installed an ITB-100HD dash cam. Pretty simple job, especially since I've done it on two previous cars, and just keep moving the unit as I replace the cars.
Couldn't be caught driving in my new Countryman without "eyes", so now it feels good that it's done.
=== INSTALL ===
Removing the camera and wire from my 2014 Santa Fe lease was a breeze.
Once in the Countryman, I ran the wire over the windshield and down the passenger pillar (made sure it was under the rubber strip, not inside the airbag pillar itself).
Ran the power cable through the roof liner
Roof liner
Down and through the top of the pillar (not inside)
Down the pillar (under the rubber strip, not inside the pillar itself)
This was the hard part; the rubber strip is really tight against the hard plastic, which doesn't give at all. A little patience will get you through it quickly though
Down the strip and over into the fuse box on the passenger's side
Add-a-fuse / Fuse-tap and we're good to go!
But finding the right fuse was a nightmare! I gave up after trying about eight different ones (thanks BMW for running everything hot and using ancient hieroglyphics to describe the fuses).
Need a degree in coding
Seat warmer FTW
Grabbed a cup of coffee and realized I should use the heated seat fuse! 5 minutes later, a clean install.
This dash cam has been with me since my Genesis, worked perfectly in the Santa Fe, and hopefully will remain ever-vigilant in the Countryman!
Plugged it in
Behind the mirror
Where'd it go? It's still there, always watching...
