What JCW style grille do you have for your R53? Pic Request!

I've changed the title and body to ask which JCW style grille you have for your R53 and can you post a picture of it?

The best in my opinion is the original jcw. Worth the time it takes to install.

I gave up searching and went with the Outmotoring glossy JCW style grille. I'm wishy washy so I might get both, decide which one to put on and sell the other. I'm good like that!

I just saw the post...

I think the flat black would be best, but I bet the glossy is easier to clean.

Motor on!

Vote for the Factory Aero Grille. Also I like when its also painted black behind the bumper and grille so you dont see the body color.

As a neophyte in all things MINI, what's the difference between the factory Aero grille and the JCW grille? I assume you're meaning the aero bumper with the JCW grille fitted?

One year MINI changed all grilles to the black long slat grille, right? What year was that and are all the aftermarket grilles modelled after that style? I haven't seen any aftermarket grille modelled after the honeycomb JCW grille.

Discuss....

Who has the best JCW style grille for the R53?

My 2005 r53 with the JCW style grill from Outmotoring with the S logo. Looks 10x better than the chrome slats I had and world's better than the r56's "S" grill

There was no JCW branded body kit for the 1st Gen MINI. All there was the following dealer fit accessory ...

RealOEM - R53 Aerodynamic Package

The grilles (part 7 and 6) from this package could be fitted to the Cooper S but the lower grille (part 6) required modification.

i ordered the same grille on ebay, but the nuts they provided couldn't even go onto the clips. how was the upper grille install on yours? did the provided hardware easily go onto the grille?

From Outmotoring, hardware was provided. The studs that were the attachment point for the "nuts" were a cross shape. The nuts were almost like a hallowed out nut that you had to use a 10mm socket and something to fill that socket to provide pressure onto the "nut" . The nuts are quote self threading but really you just have to push and twist the hell out of them until their flush with the body. Good luck
