Doing some de-chroming on my '14 MCS.

So for some time now I've wanted to get rid of some, but not not all, of my chrome trim. Last summer I almost went with a black vinyl wrap for my headlight/taillight trim, door *****, grill parts, etc. But due to the cost decided to hold off. Now that some black trim parts are available, I decided to proceed with the black trim parts.
* Black headlight ring
* Black taillight ring
* Black door handle covers (Comfort Access button)
* Black fuel door cover

I already did the door handles and fuel door and love the look. The color/finish matches the factory side-view mirrors perfectly. The headlights and taillights will be done on Friday, at which time I will take some photos and post them. I am especially excited about these last changes because the black rings will go very nice with the British Racing Green exterior paint. And I believe it will help make the front and right lights look smaller. These new pieces blend nicely with the black roof, black side mirrors, black wheels, and other factory black trim. But I'll retain the chrome pieces front and rear. I'm still deciding if I want to do something with the factory side

Here are some photos. I bought the front headlight and rear taillight trim from ESC Tuning (authentic Mini parts). The door handle and gas cap covers came from Outmotoring.com.

Thanks. I'm very happy. The only other thing I'd like to do (but nothing aftermarket is available) is adding some black to the front side lights, which are silver and clear. I would dip them, but cutting around the 'S' would be too difficult.

Looks cool. I did the same to my pepper white. For the side markers i just purchased non S turn signal in white. Look way more clean, unless you like the S badge on the side I'd recommend it. Super easy to install too which is a plus on these cars. Was thinking of removing my grill and either wrapping it or painting it.

I agree that cutting dip is very difficult. You could maybe mask it tho.

I did consider doing that, but I wanted to retain the 'S'. I'm really surprised that Mini hasn't offered a black accented side marker, especially since they're so easy to replace and kind of makes sense to do it when you're offering other black trim.

I did not want to do that. IMO makes the front look like a gaping huge mouth. The chrome strip breaks it up just enough. I also don't want to remove all of the chrome. I just want a bit to break up the black.

How did you black out the door handles? I spoke with Outmotoring last week and was told they don't have the door handles available for Comfort Access yet. Maybe you got a prototype?
I'm awaiting my '15 F56 and I will have Comfort Access. I would love to just to something stick on like I have on my '11.

Outmotoring does have black door handles for F56 with comfort access because I got a set and I just checked their web site and it is drop down choice however they are out of stock currently

Looks great! Are you going to do the grill chrome? Think we have a black option here.

edit: I just read your above post.

Maybe you can photo shop it black and see what it looks like? I think black would definitely look awesome! But understand breaking it up a bit helps. Looks great so far!

That's why I called Outmotoring, to see when it would be back in stock. I was told the Comfort Access ones were going to be switching to a different vendor something like that so are not currently available. He had no date as to when they might get something in stock, sigh.
