you know, your safest bet is to use a relay and then you have no worries about the load added to an existing circuit ...
get your 'full power' by running a line from the fuse panel 'hot in' cable, thru an inline fuse to a relay ... then power out from the relay to your added goodie. Get the power for the switch side from a switched circuit via the add-a-circuit or just tapping something simple line the cig' lighter / aux power port.
basically this:
led should not draw much power but this isolates the new load . . .

I verified that the radio did not have power after removing the fuse. But, when I add the add a fuse, the added circuit always has power even with no key in the ignition.
Very strange, all fuses behave the same way and I have tried another add a fuse.
Anyone know what the blue connector is on the left of the fuses in the attached photo? I maybe able to find a switched 12v there.
Any help would be great!
