Removing scuttles

When I got my new Mini, I used some of the compensation money to buy black, gray, while mirror caps and scuttles. Since they said it take 3 hours for the adhesive to dry, I just took them with me. Since I live 240 miles from the dealership, I would like to do it myself. The big question is how do you remove the scuttles. I would appreciate any help with this.

I know for de-badging you can used dental floss or fishing line with a hair dryer. Be careful not to use floss with abrasives and don't overheat with the hair dryer as you can damage the paint. Not sure if same technique applies here. :/

Could I assume that on the the F56, one would slide then toward the back as they are recessed in the sheet metal?

I heard from my dealer they had to sand the car's paint, so opted not to get them.

I removed my F56 scuddles to paint them

with the hood open, I was able to reach behind the side panel holding the scuddles in place with snaps. on the top side of the scuddle is one snap. gentyly push down and out. If you still need help, I'll send you photos.

remove OEM side scuttle

Its pretty easy. All you need is a screwdriver.

Pop the hood (or bonnet). In the back corners (near windshield) there is a plastic cover with three large plastic plugs. The plugs are actually plastic screws. Use a screwdriver to remove the 3 plugs. The cover will now wiggle out.
(be careful not to over tighten & strip the plastic screws when reinstalling)

Now you can see down behind the sheet metal to the back of the scuttle. You will see a clip on the top of the scuttle holding it in place. Using your finger (or the screwdriver) press in (down) on the little tab on the clip and rotate the scuttle out away from the car. Don't forget to disconnect wiring (also a clip, has enough slack to disconnect after removing scuttle from car).

Easy-breezy in about 1 minute.

The scuttle glues on the car (glue provided in kit) and the OEM scuttle/light clips onto the new scuttle the same way it originally clipped onto the car.

Oh, instructions say sand back of new scuttle (sand paper included), alcohol rub car surface (pre moistened pad included).
