Retrofitted Heated Seats.

We have ALMOST completed a retrofitted heated seat install..we have hit a "tear my hair out of my head or how much more annoying can this be" snag. At the very end it instructs you to: "A2 & A3 to the joint connector X1019. If the joint connector is full, use the supplied five way joint connector." Well, our joint connector is full. I am assuming you should be taking one of the wires out of the old joint connector, sticking in the new joint connector wire in its' place and then attaching the wire you took out of the old ones into the new along with A2 and A3. We CANNOT get any of the wires out of the FREAKING joint connector.. What are we missing?! PLEASE, if anyone knows.. thanks

Update:
I have finally figured out how to take off the stupid wire off x1019..
You need to slide off the entire plastic thingy by depressing the three plastic ***** from the INSIDE. This can be a bit tricky since they keep on popping back down while you are working on one of the others. Once this is done the entire plastic slides off with ease.
I then had to make room for a five joint connector that came supplied with the heated seat kit. Easier said then done. Instead of pulling the wire off the x1019 with brute force, I decided to pry off the inward crimped edges with snip nose pliers until I was able to wiggle it off. Worked like a charm. With same snipe nose pliers I then reshaped them back to their original shape and slid the wire onto the the five joint connector along side with two wires from retrofit kit.

I have now completed the retrofit heated seat install for my MCS 2004 so if anyone is attempting the same, please let me know and I would be happy to help. Most of my info came from http://www.motoringfile.com/2005/02/...ion/#more-4041 with A LOT of relevant info in the comments section, also thanks to GBMINI for setting me on the right track with x1019..

I hear that BMW have decided to stop making these kits, so if you want to keep your buns toasty you better act fast! I think ecs tuning still have some in stock.

They are still available just takes some time to get in currently. If you have the Power fold-in mirror, rare on these US MINI, you will have to get the PF and heater seat center switch in place of the one in this kit which is included ( has the side mirror adjustments ). Power fold in mirrors / heated seats/ power mirrors: http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/61316918216/

Glad you were able to get this installed. The DiY is usefull and I linked more below. Just saw your post.

More install info and information on the heated seats DIY. Also the little know adapter wire to raise and lower the heat, if its needs to be hotter or colder then stock. Also some seat info on the elements.

No, works for R50-R53 MINIs.

For R56 seats you might have to tap into the R53 system, or if you dont have heated seats in your R53 then you add that kit and them would somehow have to finding out what the R53 seats and R56 seats match. I know the R53 are 2 stage and the R56 are three stage.

Otherwise the universal kit
