Healight trim painted

Well, I know it has been done, but just sharing my results. This was my self-test before I tackle more of the car's trim to match it to body color.

Let me know what you think!

looks great! how it should have been from the factory!

did you start with the chrome rings? how did you prep them before painting?

Yup, definitely how it should have came from the factory.

I started with the chrome stock rings.

1) Rubbing alcohol and a rag and cleaned them up. Let them dry.
2) 2 coats of adhesion promoter. Let dry between each one.
3) 4 coats of paint color. Let dry between each one.
4) 2 coats of clear coat. 2nd coat went on while the first coat was still a little tacky.

Welp, making my way around the car and painted the scuttles body color. I think it will look better once I tint the side marker. I also removed the "all4" emblems.

On a sad note, I got too excited to put them on and chipped the passenger side one so I will have to touch that up

Love the monochromatic look. Great job. I look forward to seeing the end product.

Did you finish the look? I have the exact same color combination Mini and was thinking to do this or paint trims black.
