Ok, got the trim rings off, check
removed 3 screws, check!
trying to get lights out...wont come out, they are loose but feels like something is holding them, it looks like a plastic retainer on the inside? anyone know? weird!

The bulb socket assembly is getting caught on the body. Reach your hand in and push it up at the bottom and the light will come out.
