I've noticed the people who put an aftermarket shift boot have to boot extended up to the bottom of the shift ****. My stock boot stops around an inch down from the shift ****. Is this done for appearance? Just wondering.

Perhaps the difference is with people who have short shift kits installed, which often lower the height of the shift **** by 1" or so. Also, there are numerous companies offering aftermarket shift boots of different sizes. I looked around for a while for a red shift boot for my car, but didn't see anything I liked for what I thought was a reasonable price.

Yup... I got the Moss shift boot after I installed the B&M. Looks fantastic.

Chrisnl, did you check out the new sponsor's web site? I think that the shift boot is $35, which ain't bad.

Now, as soon as they get Louis Vuitton pleather...!

The B&M shifter is SS and finnished very nice. You can attach the shift boot under the **** or roll it down and expose the shifters shaft, it's up to the owner of course.

The factory leather boot is zip-tied to the shaft on the inner side. The ring around the shaft determines the lowest point for the top portion of the boot. As effected by gravity, the upper portion of the boot will always sit on top of the ring and expose part of the upper shaft. To avoid this is by placing something at the desire height to prevent the top of the boot from sliding downward. Usually, several layers of tape will do the trick.

I was just trying to figure out if there was a specific reason for having the boot at the bottom of the ****. I don't particularly like the look of the boot all the way to the bottom of the shift ****, although Davecsumini yours looks nice, maybe it's because you have the sag at the bottom. Most I've seen are tight from top to bottom.
