Hi All,

A rock hit my windshield last Friday and caused about 1" crack . Do you know how much does it cost to repair it? Do I need to replace the whole windshield? Should I use the after market part or OEM? Thank you for your help.

The bill that our insurance company paid was $900 including labor. We paid $0 because it was covered under the comprehensive.

I got a bullseye in my 04 MCS (with only 1800 miles!) last week. It took my local glass shop a week to get a replacement windshield from the dealer (yeah I know a new MINI windshield but I've got the rain sensor and there's no PPG replacement). He's quoted me $375 installed.......................mgg

Be grateful you don’t have to replace the windshield on a Lexus LX 470 with night view (a near infrared image of what is beyond the range of your low beams is projected onto a space on the windshield) and rain sensing wipers. The price of the windshield alone is over $1,300.00 not counting the molding, rivets and labor. My wife knocked out her windshield in the first 200 miles of ownership! $900.00 for a MINI windshield sounds high, $375.00 sounds more like it.

>>Do I need to replace the whole windshield?

As opposed to....only the part that cracked?

Unless you have rain-sensing wipers, go with PPG glass for replacement.

Definitely have an independent glass shop install a PPG brang windshield. People here seem to have a much better experience with the PPG over the defective, expensive garbage that MINI sells.

I only paid $236 for it installed, including replacement moldings from MINI.

$900! Sheesh!

PPG should start a Solo II Contingency Program.

I'd be happy to put a PPG magnetic on the side of my MINI.

I agree with Yucca. $900 ouch, I am going on my third now and at $900 , that would be a serious hit. :???:

I bet my local glass shop would give me a volume discount and install 4 windshields for $900!

Got the MINI back from the glass shop today. The rainsensor MINI windshield was $375 installed as promised, and they did a great job. Now all I've got to do is learn to dodge those gravel trucks on the beltway......................mgg
