I just upgraded my reverse light with a brighter bulb and I really noticed that the lens was opaque and not clear.

Then driving around town yesterday I saw a MC with a clear reverse lens.

Was there a design change?

I would think that the opaque lens would diminish output so why did BMW switch to that type of lens? I mean we only have one little light why hinder it anymore.

 

What year is your MINI? My 04 MCS has clear lense. Perhaps the older ones are different. :smile:

 

I have an 04 as well - I think my build date is 08/03

 

If you have a 04, it should be the same as mine. :smile:

Where did you get, and what is the part number/spec of the replacement bulb. I can't seem to find out what to get?

 

Many auto parts store carry them. I believe it's a P21W, but can be replaced with brighter P-796. :smile:
