Best shift ****?

I just bought a used Cooper S and I love it so far, except for the shifter. I immediately purchased a craven short shift kit and I thought it came with a ****.

I love the way the S2000 shifts and feels and that's really what I am looking for. So I was wondering if I could stick the S2K **** on it? I understand the gear mapping would be wrong, but nobody is going to know but me.

Alternatively, what is the best **** that you guys have had experience with?

Thanks in advance for all of your helpful comments

Agreed. I had a custom **** made for Nikki and it's beautiful. Great heft that you can really feel in the shift throws, and a nice feel in the hand. Plus I got a great little test-run puck that I use for a paperweight. I love the WSM!

I love everything about my Whalen - size, weight, look and feel. I went with the polished finish and the classic laurel wreath design.

I am awaiting delivery of my third modern MINI, but I already have my new third Whalen Shift Machine in hand!
They can get a little hot in the south, but what a great feel shifting!

IIRC, the Craven SSK is threaded m12x1.25, same as Subaru and Toyota. Lots of choices.
Personally, I'd go with a Subaru Momo, something like a Momo Air Aluminum, but with a longer, thicker neck. Hiding the Subaru designation wold be a small creative challenge.
Team Voodoo would work too...

S2000 is IIRC m10x1.5, no joy.

The shift mechanism in a MINI is less direct, more sloppy than a S2K, and the **** itself will make only a small difference. Choice of **** will be more a matter of your personal preference for style and size.

That custom HK one is neat! My wife would love that... if she drove a manual

The shift **** is a personal choice item I feel. I have a MCS 2007 Convertible (R52) and I did not like the shifter either. The problem in the shifter is that it is not the typical screw on ****, so not any **** will work.

I purchased mine from speeddawg.com, but I had to get an adapter to covert to the traditional screw on ****. It sits a little higher but I am good with it.

Here is a pic

Didn't Detroit Tuned used to sell these?
