Worth the cost!

At first, I had a bit of buyer's remorse from spending $150 on the ****. However, it has been a great addition to my car with the added smoothness and great design. I appreciate the new **** each and every shift I make.

It is much colder than the stock **** but I just left a pair of gloves in my car to deal with it. Sometimes I find myself just wearing the right glove (no Michael Jackson jokes) until the **** warms up.

I've been on the fence about the Whalen for some time now, but with at this enthusiasm, You've convinced me to finally drop the $150

Now if I can just decide on what to have engraved...hmmm.

thanks

Aha Ian, I was wondering how you'd made out.....saw some folks suggest running into Old Navy and buying a kid's mitten!

I may be able to order mine after Xmas -- maybe I can bury it in the charge receipts so the wife won't know

Thank you, everyone, for your enthusiastic responses. You have convinced me to purchase a Whalen before my mini is even here!

Aren't MINIs and MINI owners

just amazing. What other car just makes people want to rush out and buy accessories (or fantasize about what they're going to get) BEFORE they have even taken delivery of the bloody thing. Just amazing!!!

The only mod that you will interact with every day........no matter what! Absolutly.........the best purchase made. By the way.......I purchased an infants, 3 mos, mitten in Old Navy to cover the **** in both the cold and extreme heat. You will NOT be sorry with this purchase!

I've had mine for about 9 months. Still love it. I drove a loaner MCS when mine was in the shop, so had a chance to feel a stock **** for a couple of days - that reaffirmed that the Whalen is well worth the $.

The Whalen **** is an impressive doo-dad in conjunction with my B&M short shifter. It was engraved with Wings #1 style.....still love it. Too bad that in my '02 MCS I had to hammer the **** to get it to lock on.......only a minor irritation. Everyone who drives a Mini should get one!

I appreciate a nice shift **** but the price here is scary! There are tons of fantastic ***** for less than half the price! I checked 'em all out and ended up with a Momo. A whopping $40 on ebay. Feels good. Shifts good. Less costly. Shop before you buy to see what's best for you. No sense spending $150 when much less will make you happy.

As they say about TiVo:

A nice thing about the **** is that Whalen makes them and markets them for a fair price. I'm surprised he isn't getting knocked off yet or that some other vendor isn't re-selling them and adding some expensive instructions and tech support.

Actually, I am getting knocked off!

They're not offering custom engraving, though!

Doug,

My whalen **** arrived and looks and feels great !!!

BUT, I thought I ordered the engraving, MINI wings with the gear pattern inside ... I guess that part of the order wasn't entered correctly by me ??

Do I need the shift pattern to enter racing-driving schools or... is it better for safety to have it?

Should I send it back or just drive it like I stole it ???

Nothing on the order form about engraving, Phil.

E-mail me; we can swap them, or I'll engrave yours and return it.

Nope; I don't get into any type of coloring.
And I can only engrave on the line; not solid figures.

Sorry!

I was wondering about solid objects/empty-ish areas. hmm, guess i'll have to revise my design a bit. I'm getting closer and closer to actually putting my order in for the ****.

How detailed?

How detailed can you get with the engraving Doug? I am very interested in purchasing a **** after all the rave reviews here. But the design I am looking to do is QUITE detailed.

I don't have a picture of the **** itself, but this is one of the most detailed designs that I've engraved so far.
