The switch is a small button with an LED that is red when on, and Green when off. It is about the size of your top knuckle on your pointer finger (or at least mine)

I mounted it on the dash to the left of the steering column and it stick with double sided tape. This way it's totaly out of the way and impossible to hit unless you mean to.

The 540's are just about the right size. I think that the 510
s would look kind of funny as they would be too small now that I have see the 540's on my car. You can get them from www.thepilo.com

I'd get pictures, but my camera is not with me...

MiniPilo,
thanks for the info. im going to wait for some pictures though. can you beat litewarehouse.com's price of 215 w/shipping? I would much rather buy from a vendor in this community. let me know.

If anyone has pics could you post them or send them to me shinnyboy@***.net

Here's some pics:

..sorry, can't touch that low price, I'm not sure that they are making any money at that price...maybe 10 bucks or something.

Here are a couple pics of mine installed. Dan at Pilo had a group-buy for $220 including shipping a while back.

I like them better without the covers.

More info and instructions can be found in the PIAA Group Buy Thread

I would be happy to offer you the 220 with shipping deal that I offered on that post. I have them in stock, but last I heard people were waiting for the light warehouse to get stock again. You can double check that if you wish.

Thanks,
Dan

And for anyone who does not think the 540's are bright enough, I just ordered a replacement set of brighter PIAA bulbs: The 85W H3 Xtreme White bulbs put out 59% more light than the 55W bulbs that come with the 540 kit. Using these bulbs is like having another driving light and then some!

The higher rated bulbs are expensive little buggers ($30 each) but I was able to get http://www.sounddomain.com to beat the best internet price I could find, so I got them for about $28 each.

I called PIAA customer service today and confirmed with them that the harness could handle the additional power requirements of these lights.

However I was warned that they are for "off-road use only", but I think that means they are legal as long as they are illuminating things both off and on the road

Here is a graph showing the color brightness of the Xtreme White lights. They are about as close as you can get to the color of HID's with a halogen bulb.

what up everyone,
im interested in these lights, im just concerned about mounting them om my '02 MC, i have the Aero grill installed and to me it looks like the lights mount on the grill... anybody know if this would work?
also if anyone has any pics of the 540's on a (preferably pure silver) MC, that would be of great help.

thanks again in advance,

peter

The Lights will work with the aero Grill. The only thing is that you WILL have to trim some of the plastic for it to fit. The Kit mounts to the Hood by drilling 3 holes in each location.

You will have to do a little bit of trimming of your grille to fit the lights, but the mounting brackets bolt to the underside of the bonnet and then stick out between the slats of a normal grille.

See Hafid's great photos of his installation through an aero grille on the first page of PIAA Group Buy Thread

He has about 15 pictures detailing the installation and great close-ups to show how easy it will be to trim the aero grille to fit these lights.

No problem, haf! Your pics always deserve a second appearance when a thread calls for them

When I get those new bulbs, I will make sure to post the actual PIAA part number for them so that others can make sure they get the real-deal instead of the exact same replacement bulbs that they already have.

It's a little confusing because PIAA advertises their "Xtreme" 55W bulbs as being able to put out the equivalent of 85W. However their 85W "Xtreme" bulbs put out 135W

And remember, they are for "off-road" use only

These higher rateb bulbs can be found here:85 Watt Xtreme White PIAA H3 bulbs at sounddomain.com

Remember that their listed price of $29.99 is for a single bulb, so don't forget to order 2 of them. . . .

I replaced my 55W with the 85W bulbs last week and got the chance to use them last night on the way home from the airport, on unlit two lane backroads, they turn night into day. I didn't think they would be that much brighter than the 55W, but there is no comparison. I have PIAA bulbs for my high beams too, but I'll be swapping those out some extreme whites so they all look the same.

I was in on the earlier group buy from Dan at Pilo Racing. Support those who support us. Dan overcame some challenges with suppliers on our behalf and kept us in the loop as to expected delivery.

He posted that he was shipping them. Next day at 9:00AM my doorbell rang and my life was illuminated.

Thanks Dan.

Sounds like another good idea Yucca. Do you have a part number for these bulbs?

Also, has anyone replace the Piaa switch with OEM one? I have the euro parcel shelf and would like to use the OEM switch to mount into the provide hole.

Here's the URL for the higher-rated 85W PIAA bulbs:

85 W PIAA's from sounddomain.com

Remember, these bulbs are sold individually, so don't forget to buy 2. . . .
