I got theFactory Driving Light kit to install on my new 04 MCS and I'm having a few problems. 1st There is a gap between the mounting brackets top hole and the hood. Does anyone see a problem with using a washer to close the gap? 2nd The ground stud is not on the 2004s and the only places I have found to use as a ground is the bolt that holds the fuse box or the bolt that grounds the hood just on the other side of the rubber seal. Will either of these work? 3rd With the inertia switch gone where is the fuse holder mounting bracket being mounted? Thanks in advance for the help. This message board has already been a great source of mini info.

The mount should go flush with the hood, especially if you're using the poprivets provided. You may have to tweak the mount a little to get it to do this.

Don't know about the ground stud not being there, but a ground's a ground. Sounds like ether place would work.

On the 03's the switch was gone, but the mounting screws were still there. If they're gone completely now, you might want to drill a couple holes and use sheet metal screws.

Hope this helps some!

What Moorlockx said about finding ground. Just about anyplace you can find a bolt going into metal, you will find a good place to ground.

i just finished installing the factory driving lights and i used the bolt that you mentioned to the right of the rubber seal. i wasnt sure on how to mount the bracket either so i bought an inline fuse holder from radio shack and used that instead of the whole complicated thing that came with the lights. good luck

Thanks for the help. I was able to get by a dealer and saw what they had done to their 2004. They used the hood ground bolt like we talked about. What they did with the fuse surprised me, they had just zip tied it to the brake line. It was loose and just hanging there. I'm sure it just bobs around when the car is in motion. I'm glad I'm doing my own install after seeing that. I would have been disappointed if I had paided $375.00 for that. I still am unable to get the bracket to lay flush against the top. I will have to use a washer to fill the gap. I will use a screw and locking nut on the top instead of the rivet. What do you guys think?
