Rear Seat Armrest

Hey everyone. I got my All4 without the rear seat armrest. Does anyone Have it? Pics? Is it available after factory? Cost? Does it get in the way when the rear seats are folded down?

My Daughter sits in the back and when she falls asleep. she is all over the place. If this is available it am definitely considering it, but want to see some pics.

Thanks for your help!!

+1. I wanted to order this when I got my CM in January 2011, but was told that it wasn't available. Haven't seen or heard anything more about its availability since.

I'm 99% certain the rear armrest is the same as the front armrest. That one should work.

If you have a front armrest now and want to make sure, you can always remove it and install it in the back. Shouldn't take too long.

Found a Pic!

Found this in the gallery and looks like it might be a snap in piece for the rail system. Anyone have thoughts? or seen one. I will check with the pic owner if he knows or if this was a pick they found.

Might take away from the split rail but who uses the TINY Cup holders anyway.

We initially configured with front and rear arm rests with the split rail, but when the salesman tried placing the order it was denied. MINIs rear rest is not available with the split rail, and is evidently different than the front one. BTW the front rest is just about useless as an arm rest unless you drive with the seat all the way back, my wife (at 5'6") can't reach it with her elbow. And the rest we received is not a snap-in, it is bolted near the back of the rail.

Front has always been a bolt in and will continue to be so. Just from safety reasons alone. That's not to say a 3rd party could not come up with a snap in. I actually removed mine for a while and enjoyed the extra room..with the cup holder etc. But after a few months reinstalled it as my lazy old arm/elbow got tired. Also the snapin cradle for the mount in the armrest started to become available (whole different story). I did purchase a non(mini-connected) arm rest for the back seat passengers. Great for misc. items, ipods, iphones, pens, snacks, combs, hair brushes, old chewing gum…OK maybe wans't that great of an idea Either case I mounted the 2nd arm rest on one of the plastic snapins that either hold your coffee or sunglasses. It was a bit to high, but I could of cut down the support on the armrest itself, but just was not surdy enough. Duplicate that mount in aluminum, stainless or light metal then there's a reliable mount for the armrest and a lot of other possibilities. So I mounted the rear armrest right to the rail. I used the two holes that were already made to help secure the back of the rail down. Then marked & drilled 2 additional holes into the rail and used a small bolt & nut, going through armrest mount, rail and fastened the bolts to the underneath. Secure enough due to the first 2 holes go right into the body of the car. I believe there are pictures in my gallary.
Did you not check the reach of your arm with the armrest during a test drive ?

Follow-up… I know you shouldn't have to, but you could do what I did with my rear rest. Your armrest is secured with (4) bolts. Use the back 2, mark and drill 2 new holes. You'll have 2 into the support bracket under the rail..you might even get the other 2 into the frame as well…but then you'd have to run a tap. I would think you could even position the rest even back farther depending how much rail you have. I have the full rather than split.

once during my rear armrest searches, i found a exploded installation guide for the oem rear armrest. as i remember it showed that the rear armrest was held on and attached by a large thightening **** mounted under the rail. the ****/wheel was twisted to tighten it in place and made for easy removal. im not sure where i saw that because its been months ago, but led me to believe it needed to be removed to lay the seats down for the rear to be flat. i was thinking someone would eventually be posting info/pics of how it worked and if it was worth having.

Have them check out the latest update for the stumble/stutter. It pretty much eliminates
all the issues and should be a better response. Mine is night & day! As far as the rear armrest if parts can't help, here's another option:http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...n_armrest.html
Good luck. Post your outcome..

Ok so I went to the dealer parts department and they do not have any listing for the reararmrest part. I am beginning to think that it is the front just retrofitted to the rear. I may try to rtroit to one of the mounts but we will se. just don't want to spend the money without seeing it 1st.

I also went to get the stutter checked out and they could not reproduce the issue and they stated that without a code showing they are unable to do any CPU upgrades.. so he marked it down and i will have to bring it back when it happens again.

Wow..just replied to your other post in regards to the hesitation/stumble issue…
and I see you didn't do well with the Armrest either. A few posts up I posted a site where I purchased mine…same as what mini will sell you…it's the same part # …I looked it up. Only reason I bought it from them rather than my parts guy…it was unavailable back then..your parts guy should have no problem getting it…or as mentioned visit these guys. Good Luck!

Well you can probably get it from realOEM.com, it is listed on the site. I could not find it at the dealer or take the part Number from realoem.com to the dealer. I don't think it is an option unless you get the full rail. or you could get the front and retro fit it into a rail mount but as mentioned before it may not sit at the correct height.

I have yet to figure out what to do yet, my daughter has been ok with it so far and I have the 2 piece rai so probably won't be able to use any other accessories if I install it.

Just call your Mini Parts Department…They have the availability to order either one,
with or without mini connected with cradle.
