PLASTI COAT - Wonderful Stuff For Modding!

Got my MCS a couple of weeks back and wanted to get rid of the chrome.

Used a can of Plasti-Coat and I'm very happy with the results!
Turned out looking OEM with no runs or marks.

Cleaned the items with Alcohol and just took my time giving them three or four healthy coats.
No need to clear coat as it's got a "rubbery" texture to it... very durable.

I did all of mine a year ago and the only thing that hasn't held up are the mirror caps, but those are easy to re-do.

Looks good. I'll be doing my scuttles, gas cap, and grill soon enough but am undecided if I want to use plasti-dip or SEM Trim Paint (it's a matte/satin black finish which is very close to the black base of the mirrors). The SEM stuff is super high quality and the last time I used plasti-dip I wasn't thrilled with the finish (or durability), but then again the plasti-dip was easier since you don't have to prep as much and it is reversible so who knows.

I don't think you can use the Plasti-coat on the grill... Even the factory paint gets chipped in that location!
I got a great deal on a front grill off eBay ($85) and it looks the biz on!

Here's a link to the one I got, if anyone's interested.
I'll post pics of it on later:

Here's a shot of that new grille... I also got the checkered door handle covers from outmotoring but painted them with the plasti-coat too... See pic:

did you remove the door handles before spraying them?

you don't really have to remove anything you paint with plasti-dip because any over-spray you have will just peel off. I didn't believe it at first, but it's true. You have to be careful that you cut the overspray so it doesn't peel off the paint you want to stay put.

(however, I haven't sprayed my door handles yet for that same reason)

As I said.... Covers!!
Got the checkered ones, cleaned them good with alcohol and hit them with several coats.
They snap on over the chrome door handles.
Easy to remove back to stock if I change my mind.

They look the dogs bollox!!
