Replacing hood/bonnet emblem

Greets! I hope this is in an acceptable forum; I searched several ways and didn't find anything other than to confirm that there are apparently alignment holes under the "MINI" emblem on the bonnet. Well, the black part of the emblem has taken flight, leaving me with an unsightly, all silver badge. Ugly. So, that's gotta be replaced. Any advice on how to remove it and replace it? I imagine I can snake dental floss underneath and pop it off, maybe assisted with a little heat. Is the new emblem self-adhesive?

I may put up with the ugliness until spring, and re-stripe the car at the same time. For that matter, I might see how $pendy painted stripes are, since this is the third set of vinyl stripes in the three years I've owned the car.

TIA for any and all help!

If you prefer, you can get a replacement decal for the emblem instead of replacing the whole wing part. Here's one source:

To answer your question, yes the new emblem has two face tape and two alignment tabs. Dental floss works and I imagine a little heat would help also if it's cool outside.
I saw the wings for about $35 somewhere but don't remember where it was. Sorry.
I was going to have stripes painted on but the body shop (guy does custom work only) suggested the vinyl in case I get tired of it. Glad I did because I'm thinking of changing from the 2 stripes to a wider middle stripe with slim border stripes.

You can find one on eBay for about $28.00.

Thanks for the info. Funny that Aesthetic Creations doesn't have images of the other options (other than the Aztec motif).

Happy New Year, all!

Unfortunately they're phasing out their small decal products so that's probably why they're not including lots of pics. If you do decide to go the new decal route and AC doesn't have what you want, I think Lyle at Vinyl Styles is another possible source.

Happy New Year!

If you are talking about the wings, use a hair dryer or heatgun and heat it up a little. Take some dental floss and work it under the edge and saw back and forth. It'll release eventually. There are 2 little locating pins (alignment pins).
Once off, clean off the spot with wd40 or goo-gone and reapply the new wings.

I had no luck finding just the "MINI" lettering. I'm going to have to re-stripe the bonnet later this spring, and I'll just pick up the whole emblem at the dealer. Pity.

Saddly, I think they went out of business.
