Removing the orange lens in the headlights

I have always disliked the orange turn signal in the headlights, but as I bought my car off the lot I was not able to get the clear lenses I prefer. I came across a thread about how to remove the orange lens in the hardtops so I figured I would see if it was the same for the Countryman. My lucky day, it is the same process.

Here is the thread I used as an information source.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...or-lenses.html

This is how my CM looked before.

The headlight removal is the same as in the thread above. There are only 4 bolts that you need to undo and the headlight harness plug. The drivers side does have tube attached to it that you simply unclip.

I circled the 4 bolt points on the passengers side.

Now to the after pics. I am currently using 1156 Silver coated amber bulbs.

Here is a pic with them flashing. As you can see they fairly bright.

I like the way they look.

Just a word of warning warning before you do this though. If you look closely you can see the 2 little openings where orange lens tabs go into the headlight housing. You don't really notice them unless you are looking for them. Some people would not like this, but I prefer those little tabs over the orange lenses any day.

You should be able to buy the clear lens at the dealership if you want to fill in those two tab holes.

I am not sure if they sell them seperatly or not. When looking at pics of them they look more domed than the orange lens so I am not sure you could get them in there without taking the headlight apart and I don't really want to do that. You don't have to take it apart to get it out bc it just barely fits through an opening in the light that allows it to go behind the reflectors where you can reach in and grab it out easily.

The lenses are not available individually, they come with the entire housing.

Thanks for sharing! I just purchased my CM about 2 weeks ago and loving it.
Unfortunately I didn't get the xenon headlights on mine, but this orange yoke removal will be a good compensation.

If you don't mind, where did you order/get your 1156 silver coated light bulb? my local autozone didn't have them...
