Need Help: How to mount Morimoto mini H1's. Tight Squeeze.

So here are the details first:

Headlight: Mini Cooper R56
Projector: Morimoto Mini H1
Shroud: Mini Gatling (only one that will fit)
Bulb Base: H7

Here is my problem, the light is so cramped in there the easy way to mount the Mini H1 isn't working. there just doesn't seem to be enough room. The lens comes down and rubs on the shroud and there is a lot of room after the shroud that is noticeable. Here is a picture:

Picture from the back:

Picture of a stock Mini Cooper Xenon (notice how far back the projector sits):

Notice where mine sits:

I was thinking about slicing the back side of the reflector and making "extensions" to pull it back and jb weld the extension part so I could keep the mounting. I'm sorta clueless though on what to do because that is why I bought the Mini H1's because of ease of install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The photo you posted as reference looks like a first gen HL. Yours looks like a second gen light so best to repost your thread in 2nd Gen. If you do have a gen 1 I have an extra left HL if you need spare parts..

I had to cut a ton on the back just to get the bet of the projector to sit back in there. I also had to cut almost 1/3 of my shroud to make it fit with the now-recessed projector. I used the D2S projectors (slightly bigger) on my R56.

Do you have any pictures of your lights and back of housing?

Would you be able to fit the Mini H1 in there without the shroud and be able to fit the headlight lens back on?

maybe but it would look horrible. I ended up cutting the back of the reflector to accept the projector. I also JB Welded it to the reflector and if I had to do it again would use screws and bolts.

Well I had a different idea about fabricating a shround that would be very slim and still cover the visible parts of the projector. Just wanted to see if they'd fit with the lock-ring mounting method w/o shroud.

You're not going to have enough clearance to do that I don't believe if you don't cut the reflector.

On another note, I have 4 sets of these projectors. They are Gen III and what you see in the pic are Gen IV's. The difference is a painted cut off shield (which does nothing imo) and an outer chrome housing.

(2) sets perfect - $70 shipped
(2) sets small blems (I mean very small, i'm picky) - $55 shipped

Just if anyone is interested.
