Plasti Dip on paint...

Getting past some of the hang ups over this product...

Has any one used it on a painted surface?

Does/will it harm the paint?

I am thinking of making rock guards out of it as I do not want to spend $40 bucks on a magnet that can blow off/scratch paint.

Please thoughts and opinions.

It sticks! Do IT!!! You could also make a not so clear bra with it and spray lightly on the glass for a cheap window tint!!!

Platidip ftw

It does not harm the paint.

Are you thinking of masking off the area and then spraying it on to create the guards? My only warning would come from my experience of masking and spraying my grille. When you remove the masking, the rubbery paint sticks to it, so you really need to slice around the edge of the area with something like at exacto knife to make sure the paint doesn't lift with it, and THAT might damage the paint...

Can't speak to the durability/protective abilities when it's being pelted with rocks/stones/pebbles etc.

Thanks for your replies.

I had thought about the "slicing around the edge" part. Not sure about that part yet.

You only need to "score" the Plasti-dip along the tape edge. No need to cut clear thru it.

If you are worried about the paint just use vinyl. It will turn out much better than the plastidip anyways. It can be really hard to get a nice edge using the plastidip since it sticks to the tape also.

It can still pull and give a nasty edge doing it that way. Not as likely but still possible, and always the chance of scoring the paint too.
