R 56 skid plate

I used to have a plate for my 03 I think it was R53, but haven't found one aftermarket for R56. Anyone know of one?

Weight not so much the issue for me as protecting the underside from heavy winter driving.

Hi

Saw that (and the coupon) Worst darned picture I have ever seen for a product! The image is so small and the box so big I can hardly tell it's placement, etc. I recall the R53 one really blanketed the entire front. This one, not so sure.

I am looking for something for ALCAN 5000, so no hurry yet. When you get yours on can you snap a shot or two?

Thx!

MOSS MINI 119.00 part nbr: 102-790 stainless steel. Takes about 20 minutes to install. Just remember to use anti seize on bolts or find stainless bolts to replace stock ones. Had mine on for a year now (08) with no problems...

Moss says theirs fits ONLY '07. The above would indicate otherwise.
Any experience with this, or Rennline's, or something else, for my '12 ('11 & '12 being supposedly different than '09 & earlier)?

I have the Cobalt Engine Shield/Skid Plate mounted on both a 2009 R56S Manual transmission and 2010 R56S Auto transmission. Purchased one from Moss Mini and one from Mini Mania; exact same product. Easy to install, definitely worth getting. The auto transmission hangs a bit lower down than the manual. Would not suggest if you lower your car.

Is it really necessary to install a skid plate? I've been slammed pretty much from the day I picked her up and nothing has ever been damaged underneath and I drive into Hollywood all the time which has some of the shittiest roads in California.

I definitely want to get one but I don't want to spend much on one. I'm gonna have the R56 on a lift next week and I'll probably get a piece aluminum and mold a plate myseld. The Rennline one is really nice, but if its going to get banged up I can't bring myself to purchase it. I do have their interior door handles which are amazing quality.

It really depends on where you drive. My niece took out my sister's 2007 R56 electrical, hoses, and transmission pan by hitting a raccoon at night on the highway on the Western Slope in Colorado . My wife took out the radiator hose in Houston on her 2010 R56S.

The thing that gets me is that Mini uses two lousy plastic clips to hold the radiator hose just up above the back of the bumper at the front of the engine bay. Hit a bump hard enough and they pop apart and the hose hangs down to catch whatever zipping by on the roadway. We have had to have the clips replaced on my 2009 R56S and clips/radiator hose on my wife's 2010 R56S by the dealer (under warranty for both cars) prior to installing the skid plates. The dealers have stated that it is a common issue that they see. The Cobalt skid plate at least protects the radiator hose if nothing else.

Have not yet ordered - hoping someone would show up with the Moss/Cobalt installed on a '12 (or '11). Badgers, raccoons, fox, branches are all possible targets around here.

Got the Rennline skidplate in. Changed the acoustics a bit, no negative.
Installing with the front on 6" high ramps was fun, supporting the plate on my chest and belly-breathing. Added a couple rubber washers to prevent scraping the frame.
Gotta get some RaceRamps...
