about two months ago someone didn't know how to park and backed into me putting a large dent in my hood. it is big and has to be painted, so this spring (going to wait till winter is over) i am going to have it fixed before i go to the dragon in april/may. my idea was to mold the hood scoop to the bonnet. not to change the lines of the car at all. just to lose the crack that goes all the way around it. i think i have seen a photo of it done once, but i can not find it. any photo's out there, and give me your idea's on this topic. thanks

that's a great idea.. I've got the aero kit on my MCS and it looks so bolted on..I was thinking about having the seams molded.. I would like to see a pic of this on the hoodscoop also.

Not too sure, but this guy has a lot of custom body work. He has a dual exhaust with a custom rear bumper on there...probably paid a fortune for it...

It’s easy to do, well that is if you have any paint experience. Once I get the bonnet back into shape I will bolt on the scoop really tight (you know they come lose) and then weld the nuts on so it will not come off. Then apply a body filler of your choice around the area. Sanding it down each time till the crack if filled. I am guessing two or three tries will make it smooth and flush. The whole scoop and area around the bonnet will need to be sanded so the paint can blend and the clear coat will blend also. Just paint and bake at your favorite local body shop and you are done. I have just been trying to figure out if I want to do it. Once you do it, it will be hard to go back to anything else. But I always thought that M7 should have made there CF “hood” with the scoop already in it, but I also see the side of making it like “stock”. Well I have a month or two to decide yet…….

Easy easy Bond-O job. The chinsey way to do it, but you'd never tell. Of course you'll have to repaint the bonnet afterwards... but it does look cool.

I had to repaint things anyways so might as well go big. but I am just worried that I will get a crack along the edge after time from driving it everyday and shutting the hood and things. I might have to use fiberglass. I am still tossing the idea around in my head. I would love to talk to the guy that had his done and see how it is holding up.

since I am looking at that photo on a huge screen...it looks photoshoped to me...there are subtle differences in the surrounding paint where the normal gap would be.

I think that if done well enough, you should be able to have it stable enough and not crack...if you are willing to pay for it to be done right, you should have no problems....they do that kind of work on wide body kits all the time, mold them into the existing body to look like sheet metal.

Just my $0.02

cheers

As a photoshop professional (no kidding), my first inclination would be to say that the image is photoshoped.
It would take me less then 10sec to accomplish that look.

I guess it could be, but I have seen the same car from a ¾ front shoot too and it looked the same. So maybe they took the time to PS both photos, but it gives me a good idea of what it will look like. Still thinking….

I think if looks really cool too. One question that comes to mind, will it stress crack, the glass work? Like some of the older Vettes. Not that a MCS has as much vibration going on, as a V8, yet it would suck if after all that body work, it did crack. what are your thoughts??
