I've been wanting to do this mod for a long time, finally got around to it over Christmas Break. I have been searching the internet for good pics but all I have found show either scoops that aren't the body color or they have stripes. I thought I would post a pic of my scoops that are the same as the body color. I bought them from CC-B, and I think they are alright. One scoop is a little misshapen, but I am hoping that overtime it will conform. Install is pretty tricky, the only way to successfully install these is if you have E.T.-like fingers- really long and skinny. I have a wingnut or two loose under my hood from dropping them, but its nothing really difficult. I was tired of waiting on Cat & Dog Racing's "performance" scoops because they have said since July that they would be ready in weeks, so I thought I would give CC-B a try. The scoops are pretty good allaround, but need some work on the material not becoming misshapen. I am pleased,

Hey those look great! What is CC-B? Do they have a website?

Also, do they actually have a function...I mean, obviously they force air down into the engine compartment but these cowl scoops seem more to be an esthetic choice than performance-oriented, am I correct in assuming this?

Anyway, are they available in Jet Black?

Rock On,

Hey thanks for the compliment! Yea, CC-B is a sponsor on NAM, here is there website as well- CC-B website
There is no real function other than cosmetic. Some claim to have versions coming out soon to actually help HP, but I really just wanted them for looks anyway. They come unpainted, so if you order them you will have to find a local paint shop to match them up for ya.

TN won't be seein much of that. It was 60 degrees today, too. The way Nashville drivers are in the snow, I wouldn't dare venture out into that Demolition Derby.

Nice looking scoops! What do you mean by "misshapen"?

While these Orciari scoops do look nice painted (they come white unprimed)
until proven otherwise they should best be considered a cosmetic upgrade.
Prices range from $99 to $139 for the pair.

Other cowl scoop makers are working on more functional models with much larger air ducts but I wonder how the looks will be. Sort of the difference between a MCS scoop and one on the WRX.

I suppose if really tall and large cowl scoops can come with a matching larger bonnet scoop that might be worth a look.

Nice picture. ET fingers? I saw him in a movie but I don't think his feet are long enough to be a good MINI driver.

Wouldn't it help performance wise if you are using the Alta intake which pulls fresh air from the driver's side vent?

Sketch,
They look terrific.!!!!!
All good things....

Here's a quote from you
"The scoops are pretty good all around, but need some work on the material not becoming misshapen."

Why do "some" here..."seem to".... accept this ... less that perfect workmanship/craftmanship.?????
Did you pay less than perfect money for this product?????
Did you buy this product as a "second" or damaged piece"???

I personally would have returned them and requested a new... correct set..

Just MHO and my 2 cents

Peace,
D

i heard the same things about the "Carbon Fiber Hood Scoops"
that's why i bought my scoop from MINI and painted it black (fits like a glove & cost me less)
but i really want these "Cowl Scoops" guess i'll wait a little longer

looks good....but wonder what that vent does for the car?

Eddy over at cc-b is very cool. He even dropped off a package personally
to my office which is about 12min away from his.

Hey thanks guys
d2Mini- yea, I am sure an ALTA intake would help, but my dealer says that it might jeopordize (?sp) my warranty, so I am not going to risk it.

D- when I took them to the paint shop, the painter pointed it out to me and said that he would try to fix it when he baked the scoops. I thought it couldn't hurt, so I let him. Well, it didn't help. Its okay, I will try to fix it somehow.

I found out from Cat&Dog Racing why his scoops aren't in yet. The first manufacturer he used turned out some crappy scoops. Kinda like what you guys are talking about. Misshapen, pitting, air bubbles & whatnot. He's still looking for a competent manufacturer, or atleast some quality control.

i also just purchased these hood scoops, and i see a couple of pits. I have access to a sander, so i can just smooth it out. I am in the process of considering paint schemes, and I might end up with white (I have a white roof, white bonnet stripes, white side stripes). The installation looks clean, and this should keep out leaves better than the stock grills.

any suggestions?

Sand them well, try to get bubbles out. The place that painted mine said that one of my bubbles was due to the material. I don't know about that, but I wonder if they sanded them well. On the install be careful about dropping the wingnuts. I dropped two b/c of my fat hands and stubby fingers. With yours being a Cooper, not an S, things might be different under the hood, though. Well, post pics once you get them installed!
