Has anybody come up witha way to deflect the air coming off the roof on to the rear window, in hopes of keeping it somewhat clean.

I'm not sure but I think all the dirt comes up from under the car and sticks to the back of it. I don't know if air coming down would help much. The front and both sides of my car can be clean looking and the back is a MESS.

Regular waxing does help a little to keep things from sticking to the rear boot area.
It's inherent in the hatchback design to attract dirt.

Just trying to think of a way of keeping it cleaner. I know that on some older cars there were deflectors put on them for this reason.

My roommate has a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Vent Shade wind deflector that works pretty well on his car. His car is gone, or I'd look and see if the windows are of similar width & angle. It is screwed on so I doubt it'll work with a rear spoiler on the Mini.

Me thinks only the wind-tunnel experts know.

I am curious for a solution as well.

I've noticed the same thing about the MINI's "hatchback design" Here's a possible solution. It also works extremely well for making it easy to clean the brake dust off your wheels.

Try some RejeX. Here's their website:

http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html

The stuff is a polymer coating that once cured, will make it easy to hose/wipe off dirt and dust, etc. Read the review from Car and Driver, where I originally found the stuff. Cool Stuff...and it works.
