Well, as the subject line states, how difficult is it to remove the trim panel? I ask because I think part of the SRS (air bag system) is located behind that trim panel.

Based on the pictures on Mini's website, the actual head airbags don't deploy from behind the apillar trim, but drop out from the roof line next to the window. However, it does say AIRBAG on the a-pillar trim piece (both passenger and driver side) so I would like to know what I am dealing with before I go attempting to pry it off.

Why do I want to do this? I want to install a sun visor monitor for my aftermarket navigation system and I will need to run the wires down the a-pillar. TIA for the help.

The A pillar will snap off, but there is some sort of tether attached to it. I haven't taken it completely off, but you will have enough room to run wires down that way. The end of the airbag is at that top corner. Just make sure you run your cables between the roof and the airbag so theres no interference if they deploy.
