I have a question on the stock shift ****. I'm looking at a **** replacement on my MCS that was off-loaded in Charleston today and hopefully on the road to Nashville very soon. What is the inside depth of the ****, or how far down does it fit on the shifter? Also, how far down on the shifter is the flange? Thanks.

Bro, hope you've checked this out:

Whalen Shift Machine

Best one out there, any NAM member with it will agree.

I use my stock **** as a paper weight since I got my chrome Whalen ****. Just measuring it best I can, it seems to be 1inch, 5/16 deep. And it has some tabs that fit into a notch on top of the shifting post.

God speed.

Just curious - what's so wrong with the stock **** that everyone wants to replace them? If I don't mind the throw distance and it's not too big for my hand, is there something else I'm missing that's bad??

The Whalen shift **** makes your MINI go faster by decreasing the weight of your pocketbook

But if one showed up in my stocking, I would not be averse to installing it. . . .
they look great!

I was considering one since my factory **** had actually cut my
ring finger once from a protrusion in the sewing near the bottom.
each time i would downshift from 5-4, i would be like ouch!

So, going to keep the factory ****. Each gate is a long stroke,
but mastering the car in factory form is my 'thing' on the MSC.

I replaced by stock shift **** because the chrome on the top almost burned my hand after parking in the Las Vegas heat all day. Now there is a nice CF **** that sets off the space grey and black cloth interior quite nicely.

I'm shopping gear shift ***** for my soon-to-be-delivered MCS. I've thought about both the Whalen and MOMO *****. I checked out the Whalen page and like the **** very much. My question is exactly how does it mount? Does it fit over the stock shifter flange or just up to the flange? If I go to a MOMO ****, I would probably trim the flange to get the MOMO further down on the shaft; but I don't want to destroy the flange if you have to have it to mount the Whalen. Also, what is the diameter of the flange? Any information would be appreciated.

No alterations done to the shaft, install was 5 seconds. Just yank, yank, yank the old ****, pull the sleeve up on the new one, then put it on the shaft. Once you let go, the bearings under the sleeve lock the **** on the shaft. If you want to remove the **** in the future, all you have to do is pull the sleeve up, and remove the ****. One of the benefits on the whalen is that it is so easy to instal and remove. And, it locks onto the shaft to boot!

I opted for the momo, because it was only $60 and I liked the look of it. I really like the whalen and haven't heard one bad thing about them, but it was too expensive for me. The momo feels lighter than the stock ****, but the shifts are much more fun now, because I trimmed about 1/4" off the lever, and the **** itself is smaller, so it is easier for me to grip. The one drawback is that I pretty much mutilated the shift lever to get the thing on there at the height I wanted, so there is no going back to stock. The end result is very nice though, and I really like how the shift boot goes all the way to the bottom of the momo ****. I would post a pic, but I don't have my digital camera yet

I actually have acquired 2 Whalens. They are pieces of art, besides being the best shifter out there. For me, the cool part is the substantial presence of the shifter, plus the ability to custom design the engraving.

I might even get another someday. Yes, they are expensive; and yes, I could have spent the extra money on something else, but really, the Whalen is high function and high style. Look...

I just received the B&M Sport Short Shift Kit and I want to see if the stock shift pattern insert will fit the **** that comes with B&M SS Kit. Has anyone done this?
