So...I'm a retard...

In case no one knew before this should absolve all doubt

I got trigger happy and bought a center console (non armrest) on the marketplace....mostly because **** goes so fast I just saw what i wanted and said woot/pm/paypal/no thought. Not the sellers fault by no means...i'm not tryin to back out/get my money back/anything like that...just a disclaimer

anyway now that thats out of the way:

i had this (02 mcs)

with a busted armrest that shifted when i did

so i bought this (05 mcc)

and apparently the mounting plate is different (i didnt think there would be a diff)

My question is this...is it as simple as finding a diff mounting plate or am i complete idiot and should go sell my mini immediately as to not taint the gene pool here? it looks like it'd work fine if the plate/body mounting points were say...2" further apart

I'm thinkin if its not as simple as buying a different plate I'll take it as a challenge and force it to work...cutting, hacking, welding, the plastic into my own retrofit basically wasting loads of time just to do it/save some face

Mini redesigned the dash /center console area for the 05/06 Coppers to reduce rattles and vibration issues. Call Classic Mini and order the correct part only $32 and they will give you %20 off list!

The 02-04 did not have the extended center console. That was added in the 05/06 interior update.

I've got #7 from pic 1 and #9 from pic 2. From the looks of it I could make #9 work if I basically cut it in half (obviously just a basic description of what would be done) and extend it 2". The little tube jobbies that slide down into the floor are the only portion that's really "off".

From the looks of it the actual console is a little short as well...if the front portion is flush with the front shifter portion it's like 2" short in the rear and vise versa. I think it's gonna be a lot more work than it's probably worth but, hey I screwed up so now I gotta prove that it wasn't a total waste

So you're the bass turd who bought that!
I've been thinking about getting one to mount my driving light switch. Didn't think that the mounting plates might be different.
Let us know how the project goes.
May the Force (and a dremel tool) be with you.

Ya I've learned quickly that you don't have time to think to snag stuff from the marketplace here

I'm thinking between the dremel, a case of beer, and a plastic welder I should be able to come up with a solution. Not sure if anyone will wanna tackle it or if it'll be worth my troubles but why the hell not lol

Kinda looks like the angle on the bottom/rear of the console is slightly different as well. Ytf would they make that much of a change on these things?

The hatchback and cabrio rear consoles are different lengths because the rear seats in the cabrio sit further forward than in the hatchback so they need different rear consoles and mouting brackets.......................................... ................so the cabrio rear console is shorter than the hatchback one.
