2nd Gen seats fit in a 1st Gen?

I was thinking about getting the real leather seats from a scrapper close to my house, they are also heated. Now would R56 seats fit in a R50 and would the heated seat option still work?

I have R56 JCW seats in my R53, so yes they will fit, but you need the rails and everything attached. Plugs are different on the R56 seats, so will need modifying to fit and work with your R50.

It's not clear whether an R50 seat rail can directly bolt on to the bottom of a standard R56 seat.

The short answer is that it isn't a direct swap, but probably can be made to work with enough effort.

Pretty sure the R56 seats wont bolt to the R50/523 seat rails. But the holes for the R56 seat rails are in the exact same place as R50/53 floorpan, so can be bolted down easily. Just need to mod the connectors on the seats to fit the R50/53.

Thanks for the input, the scrapper has all the rails and parts needed. Heck they want $250 for both seats, I can't say no.

I'll probably do a DIY step by step after I figure out how to install everything since I wasn't able to find that on Mini2 and NAM.

Don't forget to get new bolts to attach the seats to the floor. They are your main line of defense in an accident and are intended as a one time use. Good luck with the new seats!

I am looking at doing this exact same thing, R56 seats in an R50. How did you get on with this? Is it possible?

Are the 56 seats better? Wondering if it's something I might want. I've got cloth heated sport seats in my '02 R50 and I like them.
