I think some of the folks here are not old enough to understand old-school.
This is an example of "retro-rod". Some of the older style, but done on modern car with new parts and money. It does show how flexible the Mini is. Old school? sorry.
Try something out the whole side no scuttles or gas gap maybe even twist the exhaust pipe so that the tip is pointing out. Also on an S 16" is as small as you can go. Try some smaller mirrors and maybe fatten up the scoop. That would be pretty hot rod.

Sorry if I have my terminology wrong dude. I guess Retro-Rod would be right, but to me it's all oldschool looking.
I've actually built a couple of "old school" rods. Most of those forums would jump all over that car. It would be a running joke for sure. I like the look though. You need to put "lake pipes" on it though. The side pipes you used are too 70's to fit the theme you're shooting for.

That and they totally wouldn't fit without scraping on every bump!!!! But I have always loved the look of them since I was a kid and in photoshop world you can do whatever you want (nearly). If I was to make it in real life something like what you have here would work better though.
It's funny how people are gettin worked up over my pic though.
Google 'patina hotrod'. It's painted on fading and fake rust/wear and tear. Primer showing through the paint in places. I always hated fake anything. I do like the flat black though.
Actually, a true Rat Rod has what is left from original factory paint, faded with patina. Mostly due to normal wear and tear, from many years of exposure to the elements....not a formulation of paint colors and primer on new parts.....
