Interior/Exterior My MGP CALIPER COVERS
Ya'll are too funny. We all have different tastes, that's what makes us mini owners... the ability to really individualize our cars.
I'm sure there's stuff on my car that people don't like but like I said in the beginning post... as long as the OP likes it, who cares?
IS THAT AVAILABLE NOW???
I want some... lol.

Do they reduce brake dust on your wheels? If so, where did you get them? PM me so as not to advertise. I like that they're not fake branded and if they get covered in brake dust, they're easier to remove for clean/repaint than the caliper.
If they had said Brembo or Wilwood, I could understand the rice comments.
edit: Oh dear God, please tell me you didn't spend $200 on these!!! I figured they were in the $40-50 range. You're half way to a budget rear BBK at that price.

For instance: anyone here who's decorated their car with the JCW bodykit has no intellectual leg to stand on when criticizing me for decorating my car in a way that suggests a performances characteristic it does not actually possess.
(though that was not my purpose I can accept it as a reasonible interpretation of my intent.)
You see, the JCW kit is littered with fakevents and scoops that add no performance enhancement, but are merely there to suggest they do.

PS, I'd be happy to continue this discussion with anyone who's willing to argue like an adult. "FAIL" and silly emoticons don't cont as intelligent comebacks.

Now you are splitting hairs. Comparing the JCW aero kit to some stick on caliper covers is hardly apples to apples. If anything, the aero kit IS a performance part. It has functional brake ducts, and the shape of the bumpers and skirts may have an aerodynamic effect.
What was your intent then? Because I still have no idea. You yourself called it a ricey modification in your first post!
Well, I hope it doesn't fall off and get stuck in a spoke. Good luck with that.

Gotcha; I can kind of see where you're coming from on this but the same could be said for the non-functional black grid trim on the back of the standard body kit for the Cooper S and the "non-funtional" grill in the hood scoop.
If my car ever gets dinged up in an accident I'd get the JCW front in a heartbeat, if only to get the functional brake ducts since I do get brake fade at the track even with Hawk HP+ and DOT 4 fluid.

Nothing too serious though, I don't want Spike to get hurt
Those aren't brake ducts. They're for the rear mounted radiators - or the rear differential, I can't remember which.
Wow... Lots of hate in here...
I have R99 17" OEM wheels and I wouldn't trade them for bigger wheels to accommodate a big brake kit.
I think these covers are pretty slick and make no apologies about it.
I just wish there were more photos of MGP equipped MINIs around... Perhaps this thread scared them away?

If there is ever a version of these with "Willwood" (whatever that means) painted on the calipers I would buy them in a heartbeat. I was flipping through a car magazine and it seemed like all the cool cars had that written on the brakes. I would try to find even smaller rotors to put behind them to really complete the look.
My problem with them is the proportion, in order to completely hide the caliper they have to make them way too big compared to the wheel and rotor.
BTW, when did brakes become a fashion statement? Was it when Porsche started offering the BBK in red? Or when they started putting yellow calipers on so the owners could prove they had an extra $10K to spend on their car for ceramics? Any day now I expect the newest BBK to come coated in Swarovski cyrstals....
At any rate, again, MINI has always been about "youification" so more power to you.
I also don't understand blacking out all the chrome and lowering the car down so far that the tires rub and you can't get into your driveway and the car rides like a rock.
But that's just me, and my youification talking!

The OP's comparison with the JCW aero kit makes no sense and isnt' even close to apples to apples.
You dont' buy the car without any body kit on it. Its either the standard one, or you have a choice to pick the JCW aero kit. But either way, you'll end up with either one no matter what, and they both say the car is still a Mini. There's no bare bumper option.
And you can either choose to keep the standard brakes, or upgrade to the JCW BBK too. Either way, you will have one of the two brake choices.
I dont' see any option to wrap up the bumpers and sideskirts anywhere on the configurator, or a fake ferrari aero kit option. The Fiero with the Ferrari bodykit is more of an apples to apples comparison with the brake cover.

My opinion on the brake covers, looks like you bought them at Walmart or Pep Boys for $20. Sorry, but I think you got bent over if you paid $200 for them. For that kind of money you could add that to your next brake job and be much closer to some really nice brakes, that will give you that look AND performance.
I laugh at how one benefit in on of the videos on their website is that "it's better than painting, cause it, you know, it's less down time."
"This product here will add that distinction, that look behind the wheel that you can't get anywhere else."
Oh REALLY? How about with say... A BIG BRAKE KIT!?
You can't honestly tell me that you don't see that one of the intentions with the product is to look like big brakes. Why else would they make what looks like fake bolts/screws on them? Your stock calipers don't have bolts/screws in those same locations...but lots of big brake kits do! It'd be like putting fake bolts on a set of MINI wheels...oh yeah, you said that already...and we see how that turned out.
I put these right up there with the "disc brake simulators" for those people that want to hide their drum brakes: http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/wheeldissim.html
Made by APC...that manufacturer of cheap auto parts the change the look of your car, but almost never performance in any way.

I'm pretty new here, but I'd like to weigh in on this if I may. I think they look alright, though I wouldn't myself (I had the big red brakes on my last two cars- a Boxster S and an STi with a BAER kit, so I'm sated in that regard) - but some of you could be a bit gentler in your criticism. Of course, internets are serious business, so what do I know...
This would absolutely be my primary concern with a product like this, and I was surprised to see it took so long to get mention... 55 posts?
I don't know what those are held on by (please don't say double-stick tape...), but if that thing pops off, or perchance you get a rock caught in what is now a rather tight clearance between that cover and your wheel, you'd better hope the former folds before the latter, and it won't be pretty either way.
Again, I think they look alright, and though I'm not partial to rice (which, no matter how much you or anyone else may like the looks of this particular mod, it is), I don't judge others for what they may want to do with their money (thanks for stimulating the economy!), but for safety's sake, please make sure those are well-mounted.
Others who may be considering this may want to look into plastic ones, which are much less likely to do damage should they come loose on you. And paint is a MUCH, MUCH better option. Or a real BBK.
Cheers, and happy (safe) modding.

Not for me in any color. The cover like the OP says is "Cheesy", with "RED" it's even worse. It's just like "PAINTING" the calipers in "RED", it's "RICE" (No disrespect). I mean be honest people, why paint calipers in RED? Because they stand out and looks nice (subjective), otherwise you'll paint them silver if the only purpose is for easier cleaning. Painted calipers is so 90's. Painting calipers on the MINI is no better than painted calipers on a base NEON, specially the hideous "RED".

I would agree that I think colored calipers look good, but I am not a fan of stock painted brakes. It just shows how tiny they are, but I think big brake kits look awesome. I would say to spend 200 bucks on fake calipers is not for me, it would be one thing if they looked real, but they don't look real at all.
