M7 CF Front Splitter

I am considering putting on the M7 Carbon Fiber Front Splitter. My car is lowered about 1.25" and would I have trouble with it scraping on steep driveways and speed bumps. Also, I have not seen one in person on a R56 with the stock front, how do they look.

Agreed, If anyone has added the M7 CF splitter to their stock R56 bumper, I would like to see as well! In the other M7 Splitter posts, all of the pics are JCW front bumpers.

This may help speed your decision even without seeing it. Their products are on sale until the end of the year on their web site using promo code "FRUITCAKE"

And also on eBay. I just picked up the C Wing in CF for my 09 JCW. Got a sweet deal on it. Their eBay store has it for less than their web site and for less shipping too:

Seeing how much I scrape lowered 1.25" I'd be afraid of putting such an expensive piece down in the front of my car. Once the weather warms up again I'm going to be going on a DIY route, either aluminim, abs plastic, or may even just start with 1/8" treated/coated wood.

Info

I never had a problem with it M7 front splitter scrapping the ground. What does scrape is the original rubber piece that hangs from the back of the front bumper.

Looks great!, just got mine in the mail.. I have the standard bumper as well, I was wondering if you had any pics of it from the side or at an angle. Did you put it on yourself or have some help? How difficult was the whole process?

Put the splitter on myself. Just search NAM for how to remove the front bumper. Took a few hours the first time to put on, but after I did the first one, only about an hour to take the bumper off and back on (when I put a larger intercooler on). You may notice I didn't want to drill a hole in my front bumper, so I used the grill as a mounting point. Just reinforced the back with a couple fender washers and no problems so far.

M7 Splitter on R53

This is my first year with the M7 front splitter. I have just under 3" of clearance up front with almost a 1" drop from springs and lower profile tire/rim set up.

The only issues with scraping I had wasn't with the splitter but with the bottom of the Aero front bumper rubbing every store apron and parking lot entrace I frequented. Splitter never had an issue as it is mounted just a bit higher.

I also ran all winter with the M7 CF Aero Splitter. While it did collect snow and ice on top of it, it held up perfectly. IMO the damn thing is pretty rugged.

Even struck a road kill fox at 65 MPH and not a scratch or fracture on it. But IMO, unless your MINI is lowered, at least just a little, it may look sorta out of place... ?

M7 made a quality piece...

I know it would look even better lowered, but around these parts... I can't afford it

Thanks Trashed! You just thrashed my wallet with your mounting trick, LoL. Not wanting to bore holes in the bumper is what's been holding me back on the splitter all along. Neat idea!

My m7 Splitter is due in next week and I've got some questions for you splitter pros. Does the splitter come with instructions for the R56? m7's Install site has them for the R53, but not the R56. Once installed, what's the correct angle for the splitter? Dead level or a slight down angle? I'm lowered 1.2" so ground clearance is an issue. Getting antsy! Thanks for any help.

Scroll down, there is a seperate section for all R56 parts on the "install" page. I set mine dead level, I don't know what this will do for aerodynamics but it certainly looks better. My car isn't lowered, yet.

yUP, make sure you read the instructions carefully for the last part when you loc-tite the adjustable rods, only put the loctite on the small bolts..

Not that I'm climbing the walls or anything, but how long did you guys wait from the time you ordered the splitter from m7 till you got it? I'm going on 12 days now and m7 is all of 100mi. from here! Is m7 selling parts they don't stock? I called them and asked, but the answer I got was just a little vague!

I do not have the CF splitter but I ordered the C Wing and vortex 2 hood scoop from them. Hood scoop took 3 months. Wing took about 6 weeks.

I believe they wait for a few people to order a CF product then they have it made. They do not make these parts in house. I do not think they stock these products.

Hi,

I agree with onefish2... I waited about 3 weeks for my Splitter to arrive, I think they produce it after the order is placed. It is a beautiful and well crafted piece however, well worth the wait!
